Default How big a deal is PDCC?

Looking at a Cayenne Turbo on Ebay with air suspension, but no PDCC. How big a deal is not having PDCC?

IMO, it is a must have. I drive in sport mode, normal suspension 99% of the time.

On older models it seems to make a difference. On newer ones it's not as pronounced. Personally, I'd skip it as it adds yet another layer of service items with all the hydraulic lines, pump and what-not.

But if the right deal came along I wouldn't skip buying one if it had it.

My 08turbo doesn't have it. No big deal IMO. Still handles and rides great and it's one less thing to have to worry about breaking.

No big deal IMO. Not a deal breaker.

Definitely nice to have, but I don't miss it on my '05. Do you drive through tight mountain twisties or aggressively fling your car around much? Is this going to be your only ride or do you also have a sports car of some sort?

It is a must-have IMHO. I have have had it on both of my Cayennes- my 2008 CTT and my presently-owned 2009 CTTS. For those of you who say it is not, you clearly haven't spent much time with a PDCC-equipped Cayenne on a decent road, let alone a serious mountain road with lots of great turns. The cornering is flat and quite simply mind-boggling in a 5600 pound SUV, especially loaded up with four 200+ lb guys, a dog and all the requisite gear for a long weekend.

As for the question of one more thing to worry about- these are spectacularly complicated cars as it is, so why would this even be an issue? (This perspective comes from 30 years of 911 ownership and all my own wrenching.)

There are PDCC-equipped turbos out there- keep looking if it is an option you would like.

Cheers,
TomF

I think you'll find that the guys that don't have it will say it's not necessary and those that do will say it's a must have. This is because those that have it specifically sought out a car that was equipped with it because it was important to them, and those that don't have it didn't look for that specific package. For me, it's a must have, just like full leather interior. Will a Cayenne without it drive just fine - sure it will, probably better than most SUVs of it's size or class. Does having PDCC take the handling of a 5,000 lb truck to an amazing and hard to believe level - you bet it does. If all you do is drive around town or do long highway trips, you'll probably never miss it. If you run up the mountains or look at on-ramps as an opportunity to really "see what this baby can do" then you'll certainly miss it.

The PDCC is an awesome feature, I wish I have found a 6-speed GTS with it. It would take me several years to find 6-speed with PDCC though, if ever. The Automatic GTS I test drove, had it and the car cornered flat, loved it. Does it take any fun away from my non-PDCC car, nope, it is a blast every single day. Most of Cayennes don’t have this feature, so it makes it that much harder to find the perfect car equipped with one. If you see one you like with PDCC, I would ****** it immediately.

I believe, if there was a way to add PDCC to any used Cayenne, there would be a pretty long line to get one added. I know I would for sure.

Thanks yet again for the feedback. Indeed, I drive a lot in the Rockies, though not at 100 mph (these days the Rockies are so crowded around Denver that driving much over the speed limit is hard to do). Still make sense to have PDCC, I assume?

IF you are canyon chasing a lot and do not have wife/kids/pets that will freak when you push it and you do not have another vehicle to get your carving thrill, then it definitely makes sense.

I will also add that my daughter gets motion sick. We have to drive pretty slowly when going up and down mountains when there are curves. In the Cayenne with PDCC vs our replaced Infiniti QX56, I can drive about 10-15 MPH faster without her getting car sick because of the flatter cornering and more capable brakes, and the car doesn't feel like it's going as fast, so I also don't get the "can you slow-down" chatter that comes from my right.

When it's just my son and I, all bets are off

I've finally been able to take advantage of my PDCC and it is unlike anything I've ever felt before. I can take corners so fast it's unreal. ZERO body roll. In a big SUV like this, I think it's definitely a bonus to have. Depending on your driving habits, maybe not a must have, but I've never driven in a 955/957 without PDCC so I can't say for sure!

If nothing else, it's good for resale.

Soon after purchasing my Cayenne (about 2015) a 2009 GTS MT with PDCC was listed. From the LI/NYC area the seller was asking $3K over my deal, with nearly the same mileage.

Not sure what your budget is but there's a newly listed 09 Turbo S with PDCC (Turbo Ss have it standard) on eBay
