Air suspension compressor
I have a 08 CTT, for the last few months I've had the 1772 error, from what I read this is associated with a bad compressor/piston ring seal.. I've changed the piston seal and still getting the error (probably more often than before).
Has anyone had a similar experience. Trying to decide if I buy the cylinder repair kit from Suncoast for $350, a whole new Arnott compressor aftermarket $700 or Porsche Wabco compressor for $1500.
Thx, Stu

I had this happen to me using a cheap Ebay repair kit. I bought the more expensive "Bagpiping Andy" kit and it fixed the problem. Upon comparison, the Ebay piston ring was undersized versus Andy's. Note that I also did a full compressor out clean up, so it's possible I fixed something else while it was out, but I didn't find anything obviously wrong other than the piston ring, so I'm pretty sure that was it.

Brainz, thanks for the advice. Replace the X8R seal with Bagpiping Andy's seal and 1772 code hasn't appeared (used to throw the code after 2 mins or so after starting the car). I also noted Andy's was a larger diameter than the cheaper version. thx

just want to say thanks, i just encountered the same issue.. i had a x8r version that worked for 60k miles, then i replaced that with another x8r which didn't work at all. after reading this thread i spent the extra $ (18 vs 47) and got the BPA version. the material they use is much more dense, you can feel the difference in weight right away. the machining on the bpa version was noticeably better as well. for anyone with the same issue, just spend the $ on the better part..

Did you guys buy the Bagpiping Andy kit from the US distributor, or direct from UK? US distributor has a shorter lead time, but is more expensive.

Wow! Porsche is not shy with over charging! $1500 for a compressor now???? I could of sworn new Porsche compressors just a few years ago were half that?
I thought $300 for two plastic vacuum lines bordered on insanity. Guess not!

Hi, I am hoping to get some direction for troubleshooting air suspension on 2004 TT. New compressor, but can't get it to activate. Battery good, fuses good (everywhere). I am not getting any voltage at the compressor relay under dash (I think it's F5 ?)...nothing......
So, it's the air suspension controller that sends this signal, right ? Does anyone know what to check on the computer ? Or conditions that must be active for computer to send voltage to compressor relay ? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks !
