Anyone with a bike rack?
Just banging the interior too much every time I take my road bike, even without the front wheel and one seat down.
Today I had to put a second bike (a small one) in there and it took me about 30 mins to figure out the best way to not harm car or bikes.
Anyone with advice for a rear-mounted rack?
It doesn't seem like the generic ones will latch to the top of the hatch because of the "visor" or whatever that lip is called.
There are some really cool ones that are hitch mounted, but I assume it is still silly $$ to get a hitch put on my CT, no?
Thanks in advance for any tips!

Absent the trailer hitch, I think it is going to cost some major dollars to remedy your problem. Going with the roof rack system might be cheaper. There are some types that hang off the rear of the trunk but I don't think our type of "trunk" lends itself to that use.

Not sure what Porsche asks for this setup. Anyone know?

I have the roof top carrier and it's pretty impressive. I don't remember the price but it wasn't expensive. It is not like the one in the above link though..much better and futuristic looking. Without the tow hitch already installed it going to cost to the rear mounted route..if it's possible at all.

Thanks.
Colm, any more info or part # for the one you got?
And stupid question, but I've never used a roof mount before: how the @#$ do you get the bike up there in a car this tall?
Open the door and stand on the sill, lifting the bike way up with one arm while holding up your body with the other arm? Doesn't sound right...

As a USCF racer I have used every rack ever made and every one is a compromise:
Roof racks look cool, are wind noisy, expose your bike to the elements, are very high to load, need cable for security and are a time bomb. Eventually you will drive into the garage or overhead obstruction.
Rear hatch strap mounts will scratch your car and bikes and are not secure.
Hitch mounts are ok, but are tough on the bikes are security risk. Will inhibit your access thu rear tailgate. Watch out for burned tires from exhaust.
If you take your wheels off (at least front) and stack the components between old bedspreads you are not cool but save lots of wear and tear plus are secure underway and while parkted.
Just my experience.

Tregger,
Thanks for your comments, I share similar concerns (but hadn't considered the exhaust effect).
Even with both seats down, there isn't a whole lot of room left after fitting my 58" bike (w/ aero bars). Front wheel is always off. Your idea of an old spread for a 2nd bike is good.
I assume you have a similar issue with your T-reg, right?
One nice thing about my wife's MDX, I can lay the bike sideways without having to drop anything, that thing is suprisingly wide.
Oh well, I could have bigger problems <g>

For the love of God! Don't put a bike rack on the Cayenne! Those things are so damn ugly and lame. Seeing some ***** driving an SUV with bikes hanging off the back or roof swaying in the wind drives me crazy. I might be able to see why a Cayenne or smaller SUV would need one, still... The ones with the Suburban or Tahoe and still have bikes hanging off the roof or back have a problem or do they think it's cool.
I don't know but towing a Harley or strip car seems a little mor manly.

Not sure what the neighbors think, but this past summer I had a bike rack in the trailer hitch and 3 bikes on it and EVERYONE I passed in the twisties was wondering what kind of TRUCK that was that passed them. Also, in 90 degree weather, I had no tires blow on the truck or bikes. Did 56 mile bike race and 13 mile run with no blow outs!!

Duo, had not been in the water for about a year and did not want to drown!
