Default Traffic Pro install on 2003+ models?

Has anyone done this?

Of course, the dealers claim it isn't possible due to the MOST fiber bus system on the 2003+ models. While this is true if you have the Hi Fi or Bose option, the plain vanilla CDR-23 doesn't have a MOST connection.

I read a post from a Boxster owner on the Becker Board a while back that described a successful installation of a Traffic Pro in a 2003 Boxster.

I am trying to do the same for a 2004 996. The one issue I have run into is that the antenna connection on the 2003+ models is different than the earlier cars, which makes it incompatible with the Traffic Pro antenna connector. I am looking for some kind of converter/adapter. Any one know of one?

TIA,
Karl

Karl,
Can you pull "Radio" information to your gauge cluster? If so, you have the MOST. Be aware that this is NOT an optical connector at the head unit - that connection is still electrical. The converter is further down the harness (at least that's the way it is in my 03 BOSE 2.7)

Jeff,

No, there is no radio or other audio info in my dash display. I confirmed that the Traffic Pro can replace the CDR-23 Model 6611 in my car by connecting the TP to my existing wiring. The system powers up and can play CDs just fine. Now I need to hook up the GPS antenna (should be arriving today) and the radio antenna and I should be good to go. I just need to find an antenna adapter.

Karl,
Perhaps a Ford Store could help???? I see that Ford advertises the TP as a dealer install on certain models.

Yes - if a P dealer won't accomodate, perhaps another source with the same/similar part would be a better choice???

If memory serves, the TP requires a DIN ISO connection, including the speed variable volume connection (if you wish to use that feature).
I just can't understand a P dealer not wanting/unable to install a TP in a non MOST Porsche.
