do 1998 Boxsters have seat height adjustment?
I test drove a 2003 non-S car and felt a little cramped while driving, even with the seat at it's rear-most position.
.
Only afterward did I discover the handle with the oval shaped ring handle on the side of the seat lowered the seat, moving it rearward as is did so and giving me plenty of leg room
Do the early cars have that seat function too?
I'm trying to save myself the drive that would be required to find out for myself by asking you guys.
Thanks in advance.

The handle / ring arrangement you speak of is lower front and moves the seat forward and back on a 1998. My car had no height adjustment function, maybe the car that did had different seats as the stock units do not adjust height. The only other adjustment I'm aware of on the '98 is the telescoping steering wheel that on my car was never functional.

The car I drove was an '03 so that presumably explains why it had a height adjustment.
Thank you

Regarding telescoping feature, many bloggers have said they are just very stiff. I found mine to simply be non functional or in need of what seemed like breaking force applied to it simply to telescope the wheel; I decided it was fine where it was.

If the seat is all the way down it won't raise if you operate the height adjustment lever while sitting in it. Try the lever while standing next to the seat or lift your weight off first. The seat should rise. Put your weight back on it and lower to your preferred height. If this doesn't work the mechanism is broken.

The steering column's do indeed get stuck in place due to inactivity & lack of cleaning. I have pulled on the steering wheel as hard as it takes to remove a steering for the 1st time. I fear I will bend the wheel, but it never does.
I believe all Box seats have height adjustments. The manual lever disengages the lock of the hinges that raise & lower the seat bottom. Just like the steering column, crap buildup & inactivity freeze the hinges in place.
Lower the top then start on the right side seat. Pretend you are your favorite pro wrestler doing a "glutus maximus" pounding to the seat bottom from the top 'o' the ring!!
