that is interesting. For me I had glitter dust in the filter, so fine you could not feel it. When I pulled the IMS so much oil came out it looked as if 1/2 the shaft was full of oil and it smelled bad. But the plastics seals looked fine, and the bearing was smooth and seemed fine. I did not pull it apart is just sent it back to LN Engineering. So far so good that last oil change was clean.

I finally got back to cleaning out the IMS tube. Wow is the glitter hard to clean out but clean now. Making tools to install the IMS bearing using the original dual row bearing part # BD20-17-A-DDUA17NX01-NSK from 123bearing in France. Screwed up and said cheap shipping Still waiting.
Going to use the Aasco flywheel but use a sprung disc from an Audi Quattro - same diameter, spline and clears the dual mass cover.
Want to balance the flywheel/pressure plate but hard to find a shop during the holidays. For kicks, I hung the flywheel by the input shaft bearing on the trans input shaft. Definitely out of balance and consistently swings to the same place.

Default No failure

Replaced with LN at 75,000 when it needed a clutch. Mechanic said the bearing was good.

Replaced with RND Roller (from LN) at 89,000 miles after finding ferrous glitter in the oil filter. Dual row, ’01 S. Ball bearings were falling apart. I should note the rubber engine mount was fully torn & separated from the carrier when I replaced it.

Did not fail but for peace of mind had it changed at 49,000 miles with LNE IMS. 2003 986 S, 49040 miles.
