Does anyone know how to remove the CD cartridge once the power has been disconnected from the cd unit?
I replaced the system but forgot to check the changer for CD's.
Thanks in advance.

well, how does one take this apart without damaging the discs loaded inside ? It's pretty rugged item. (I am looking for a replacement unit, by the way, and when I gtet one, am totally willing to dismantle this one.

Anyone have an extra CD cartridge they want to sell or get rid of, or know of some wear that I can get one cheaper then the ones I have found on line for around $65 to $89. I have a 2004 Porsche Cayenne S. contact: raybonj15@gmail.com
I just bought the car and it did not have a CD magazine in the unit.

You can use a Sony cartridge in the CDC-3, they are about $30 and hold 10 discs instead of 6.
You can find more information on it here: http://www.986faq.com/4-0/#M692

Since I have 97 993 with 6 CD changer (OEM) I do not know if I can put in a 10 CD changer without some EPROM that may not work on the older car. So, 2 questions: 1) how does anyone change the software for this feature on any Porsche - how does one alter the EPROM???; and 2) is it possible on my OEM 1997 CDR-210??
I am ok as is, but always nice to know.

Had same problem and thought I'd complete the thread more.
Another forum suggested the CDC-3 is really a Sony CDX-T65 with Porsche/Beck printed on it.
Here's the service manual: http://elektrotanya.com/sony_cdx-t65.pdf/download.html
You can take off the top cover and push the eject lever manualls. HOWEVER, the manual warns (in a poor translation) that if a CD is in the player, it cannot be ejected manually. You need to connect power so the player will release the disk and put it back in the cartridge.
yup, it would not eject, because when you put the cartridge in, it automatically grabs a disc. Didn't try tearing the entire thing apart. Going back to trying to asset power to unit.
Good luck.
