How did you widen your fenders? Weld on new metal or cut out old fenders, or something else? Asking because I like the look.

IMHO, the only thing saving you from massive rubbing is the high ride height.
Hi there, I'm also driving a 986 and I'm trying to mount 305/30/R19 in the rear. Can you tell me the spacer size you are using? Is it 25mm, 30mm or 35mm? Any spacers in the front?

I have nearly the same question. I am trying to see if the wheels/tires will fit from a 997 that is running 295/30/R19's and what spacers will be needed. I don't see the original images on this post, so I don't have a reference other than some of the posts saying that they stick out too far. Thanks!

I had a base Box 986 1999, with a lot of options ordered by the original owner. (I say had because it was stolen last Saturday 9-8-18, recovered 20 minutes later, totaled by the thief).
The original owner (I was 2nd) ordered the car in german racing silver, guards red interior, 996 optional 19"x8" front, 19"x10" rears, Brembo Brakes, and a lot of other really cool stuff.
I ran Michelin Super Pilots summer compound 19x285\30 on the rear and 19x225\45 on the fronts. never had any clearance issues and the car "stuck". There will probably be some people that may throw the BS flag. Nothing ever rubbed, ever....
It was what it was. It was a great combo and looked really good.

Great, thanks for the info. I think 10" wide is not an issue as long as the offsets are correct for the vehicle.

I had 3/8" spacers on the back wheels. With 285's on, that gave me a 1/2" clearance at the upper control arm. I still had plenty of room between the fender and the sidewall of the tyre.
If I really nailed the loud pedal in a tight 2nd gear corner, the rear would just start to step out a little, but I also had good control of where the rear end was going...
