slightly OT: next-gen SPEEDSTER!
It could be the revival of the Speedster name.
The Speedster test car was caught by the Carparazzi photographic team at Nurburgring.
The Boxster Speedster is coming soon.

The Speedster variants Porsche made out of its 911 range in the '80s and '90s went down as one of the most iconic in the company's history. But with the Boxster already in the line-up, making a 911 Speedster today would make about as much sense as, um.... mounting a flat six behind the rear axle. So what are they preparing instead? Well, if these spy shots are any indication, some sort of Boxster-based Speedster.
The mule captured in these photos is wearing an extensive amount of camouflage around the rear deck and roof, but sources suggest that underneath the disguise, this particular Boxster is wearing a more shapely rear hood, with Speedster-style moldings running from a pair of roll hoops aft of the seats down to the rear bumper.

Porsche may be hard at work developing an entirely new Boxster – but the current car is going out in style! This is a Speedster version, which gets a dramatic new look with a pair of roll hoops at the rear, just like the classic 911 Speedster of the Eighties and Nineties.
Porsche engineers have done their best to disguise the aerodynamic look with a fake rear roof section but look closely at these pictures and you can just make out the twin humps which run from the rear end to the driver and passenger headrests.

With all the negative (my opinion) news regarding the future of the 6 cylinder Boxster of late, it is good to hear that there is something positive happening with the car that once saved Porsche.

Here's some pics without the top up. Notice how the back edge of the side windows is pointy like a Cayman instead of rounded like our cars. And it slopes down pretty steeply, unlike the Cayman.

You can see in these shots that they've removed the gauge hood, similar to the previous special edition.
