Default '98 Boxster highest bid car at Palm Spings Auction at $85,000!!!??

..yes according to the local newspaper (go to mydesert.com) $85K was the bid on a red '98 Boxster (wtf)

Something doesn't seem right. I can't imagine anything making a '98 Boxster this valuable.

Was it the "2 and a half men" Boxster?? Was it owned by "John Voit" ...are bidders insane?

Wish I had driven down, so I'd have seen it for myself. I'm currently in Palm Desert

I think they must have added a zero accidentally and it really sold for $8500

It is listed in 'good' condition at 72455 miles. Nothing special that I see. Most likely an extra 0

I checked the site, it had 2 conflicting statements. One showed a photo of a red Boxster and mentioned the $85,000 price. In the body text, it mentioned a Corvette (mid 1960's, forgot the year and the web site has changed now) with a $85,000 bid.
That makes more sense.

Here's the results of the previous auction. A lot of NO SALES.

Well, maybe we don't realize what our Boxsters are really worth. Check out this ad on the Bay Area Craigslist:
