Post Boxster smoked lens they exist !

Bet you have never seen these!

German made in factory porsche boxes. Since these were never produced in this color they were converted at the factory.

Yes they are 100% Original Porsche lights. They are modified by the same company that produces the orange version that Porsche uses. These do not have a Porsche factory numbers because Porsche does not offer them.

The first production of only 15 sets just landed. The part numbers are 10 8848 981 and 10 8848 982. You will need 2 x 986 631 440 01 seals as well. I do not know what the retail suppliers will be selling these for. If you contact any of the major retailers and give them those SSF numbers they can quote you. I know Pelican parts in on line and could probably quote you immediately.

I bet they are not even aware these have been produced.

Good Luck

Q,

Not sure if clear will be available. Theses lights are very expensive when compared to the orange. If they sell well, any variation is possible.

Fletch, it is a little difficult to tell from these pictures, but the lenses appear more black than smoked. Are they indeed colored to a medium grey/smoke like the 996 lights? Do you know what process was used to produce them? Thanks.

Texsun,

The shade seems a little darker that the 996 version. I have not compared them side by side, but I have seen both. The process is a chemical treatment, I have no specific other than that.

Thanks for the quick reply. One final question... a guy was selling similar lights on the boxster board last year (links below). They appeared to be black/red and the story behind them was that they were TUV approved and sold through a prominent Porsche dealership in Germany (Porschezentren?). Do you happen to know if these are the same taillights?

I'll post if we get clears. As for the link Texsun provided, The appear to be the same, although its hard to say. The ones I have seen are imported from the manufactuer and not a dealership.
