thats Michael Lansky's underpowered 3.4L Boxster. its a very nice car but he needs to install a GT3 RS engine bad! then the car would be perfect!

Have you guys seen the latest issue of GT Porsche Magazine (outstanding UK based magazine). They have an absolutely stunning twin turbo Boxster in there that would make any grown man (or woman) cry...an absolute beast and the ultimate incarnation of the boxster yet? Haven't read the article yet, going to do so tonight....

Cheers

The problem with the TT Boxsters are two-fold

1) Cost - Nearly $22K the last time I checked

2) Space - You have to give up some of the rear trunk for the piping, coolers, etc.

The other thing I would start to worry about would be stress on other components, axles, cv joints, etc. when the HP gets too high.

Still, I wouldn't mind having one...

TTP now puts the intercoolers behind the tail lights. So you dont lose rear trunk space

I'll be sure to tell him that next time I see him.

I remember first seeing that car a couple years ago when it had stock body & a stock 2.7L motor.
He seems to have gotten the itch for more speed and went at it with a bigger motor. Yeah, while it not super powerfull. 300 or so hp in 2400 lbs car is quite good and it is probably one of the fastests boxsters in the country. I am sure he is working on pushing the power up a bit. Only issues is car class He is already at the limit for engine size in his class. GT3 = 3.4L max
There are plenty of ways to get more power out it is just that it is quite difficult since he is on the leading edge of the curve breaking alot of new ground.

Anyway he is still pretty darn fast on the track and has my vote!!!

hey said to me that his 3.4L car is only turning 246HP RW.My 3.2L with headers, intake ECU turns 243HP RW. So he is losing HP somewhere. I hope he has found it.

My HP estimate was at the flywheel give the properties of stock 996 motor.

I was not aware that he was down that much at rear wheels. Clearly there is more potential in the motor he has. He just needs to find it.

We just got back from California Speedwau this past weekend with our new Boxster Race car. It was it's first full weekend of racing. She had terrible brakes (incorrect master cylander sizes), and needs more downforce at the front but manadged to beat a well prepared GT3 by over 1.5 seconds!! She will pick up many more seconds with working brakes. We ran her 3.6ltr at only 6500 RPM for break in which nets us roughly 280 HP at the wheels. We will have another 25 HP for the next event at Willow Springs. We were hitting the rev limiter down the strait!!

Derek, hows the ride (power and handling) compare to the zebra car. I sold my 944 T after we installed the motor we got from you. Figured if I was going to go another direction time to do it was right after we put a fresh motor in the car. Sometimes I do miss the feel of that car when it was on "BOOST". It was a beast. I am playing with my boxster S car in DE and Time Trials for now. If I get another race car figure I will go with a factory prepped car, but no specific plans for now. Man don't ya think its time to get some paint on that boxster?

The car accelerates like a bat-out-of-hell. The power to weight ratio is close to 4.25#/HP or so! That being said she runs with cars with twice her HP so gets eaten up on the long straights. It is more of a cat and mouse kind of thing racing this car vs the 'Zebra' which is more of a point and shoot kind of car. The Boxster would eat the 'Zebra' alive on a short technical track but go down in flames at places like Willow Springs where the HP rules. The 'Zebra' might actually break 200 MPH at Willow!!!

you have the Zebra car, and since you call this a Cat and mouse car......Why not paint it with a Cheetah or tiger paint scheme. Or just put a bunch of Tom and Jerry decals all over

Hmmmmm we just named our Huntley Racing HSR legal 914/6 2.0 ltr the Mighty Mouse so I think Tom an Jerry might be a bit redundant? How about goes like a Bat out of hell, stops like the Queen Mary (we are fixing that!)!! Here is a pic of Mighty Mouse and crew.

Derrek,

Its gettig a bit tough to follow...let me see if I can see where your "boxster sits" The following are your quotes to the list, I'm trying to keep up.

"It's actually a full tube frame car, no 911 or boxster frame on board. We did use all Porsche componants though such as 911 spindals, 944 turbo brakes, 930 axles, 911 steering rack etc... The motor is relitively stock but making 340 HP at the wheels."

Did you switch the motor out in order to loose HP to stay in a run group your more comfortable with?

This would seem to make your motor now, put out 376hp????

So, really, what kinda power does that motor make????

340 at the tires?
280 at the tires?
376 at the tires?

What motor is it? The numbers you post are all over the place? Is it rear wheel you quote us? is it flywheel? Is it a mix?

Most recently you wrote:

Is this the same Zebra thats at your shop? Its done?

Lastly you wrote:
"The 'Zebra' might actually break 200 MPH at Willow!!!"

Will the zebra be making it to willow springs this December also? A car like that should be wicked fast huh? What races have you entered the Zebra in this year, is there a link to the POC site that I can find any results or times? I looked in the PCA archives, no luck. This car is a legend, please tell us where to find the results of the runs..we want to see the victims you left in the wake driving that Zebra this year!!

Take Care!
