Derrek,
Its gettig a bit tough to follow...let me see if I can see where your "boxster sits" The following are your quotes to the list, I'm trying to keep up.

>>>Good luck.

"It's actually a full tube frame car, no 911 or boxster frame on board. We did use all Porsche componants though such as 911 spindals, 944 turbo brakes, 930 axles, 911 steering rack etc... The motor is relitively stock but making 340 HP at the wheels."

"She will pick up many more seconds with working brakes. We ran her 3.6ltr at only 6500 RPM for break in which nets us roughly 280 HP at the wheels"

Did you switch the motor out in order to loose HP to stay in a run group your more comfortable with?

>>>I know this might be tough to grasp for you but some motors make more HP the higher the RPMs. This motor makes 280 HP when kept at 6500 RPM or lower and makes 340 HP when reved to 8500 RPMs. Any questions?

"The power to weight ratio is close to 4.25#/HP or so" Also Posted 07/07/02 Derrek Wrote:
"The car is 1600# wet"

This would seem to make your motor now, put out 376hp????

>>>When measuring power to weight you use crank HP. Being on the conservative side we are taking 340 wheel HP and adding only 12% drivline reduction to get 380 HP at the crank. Taking 380 HP/1600# = 4.21lb per HP. Any more questions??

So, really, what kinda power does that motor make????

340 at the tires?
280 at the tires?
376 at the tires?

>>>Depends on what RPM we run her at. Now that she is broken in we are running her at her full HP of 340 wheels. Any more questions??

What motor is it? The numbers you post are all over the place? Is it rear wheel you quote us? is it flywheel? Is it a mix?

>>>Awfully concerned over this arn't you. She is a 3.6ltr N/A hybrid 964/993 motor running aftermarket injection. She has a bit of this and a bit of that. Sice you have never seen a 911 motor inside I don't think you could really follow along with much more detail than that, nor do I think my competitor known for carbon copies of products needs to use more copy paper up.

Most recently you wrote:
"It is more of a cat and mouse kind of thing racing this car vs the 'Zebra' which is more of a point and shoot kind of car"

Is this the same Zebra thats at your shop? Its done?

>>>If you mean is the new 'Zebra' ready for the track any time soon? No. Other projects have taken precedence like customers and such. I was refering to the many years of racing experience in her before she went into a long term re-fit and upgrade.

Lastly you wrote:
"The 'Zebra' might actually break 200 MPH at Willow!!!"

Will the zebra be making it to willow springs this December also? A car like that should be wicked fast huh? What races have you entered the Zebra in this year, is there a link to the POC site that I can find any results or times? I looked in the PCA archives, no luck. This car is a legend, please tell us where to find the results of the runs..we want to see the victims you left in the wake driving that Zebra this year!!

>>>So childish, so borish, so in need of a life. Try to built yourself up vs tearing others down. Its more constructive. The 'Zebra' has not Raced in a few years and has no completion date established at this time. We are perfectly content to race the other three cars and the two others being built in the mean time.

Take Care!

>>>Allways do.

...maybe someday, when you get your cars running...or when I'm not there???

Take Care Derrek

Guys,

Do you mind taking the argument elsewhere? This car isn't any more a Boxster than my Boxster is a GT2! I doubt the rest of us here, at least those not within driving distance of that track, really care one way or another and in fact may be a little tired of all of the pictures posted in multiple threads that simply chew up bandwidth every time the thread is opened...

Please, before it gets out of hand, just deal with it in email or something....

Thanks...

Holy Cow!

That GT Porsche Magazine is $112/year!

Is it really worth it?

I know this "topic" is dead.. but I would like to see the SCCA GCR that allows you to run a 3.6 liter engine in GT2 ?? We have been building 300hp 2.9 liter engines for years now...325 would be easy if I could start with a 3.6

Interesting that its a open top car, your log book must have been signed right before they changed the rules regarding open top cars in GT class.

The car had a beafy 2.9ltr with 300 HP before the 3.6 ltr went in. Also the logbook was signed off in 2000 before the rule change but not run with SCCA since the rule change, obviously. Since we don't want to put a roof on the car just yet we are going to beat up on the other club's cars for a while then decide where to go next. We run PCA, POC, TCRA, and NASA.
