Jim, there's a guy in Georgia with two 928's reported to have over 400k + each and no rebuilds. I myself know of one 79 928, 300k, leakdown was perfect.
Boxsters haven't been around long enough to see those kinds of numbers but we'll see.

My 87 944 Turbo has 200k (my first P-car) orginal miles however the oil cooler seals just blew out on them so I'm still in the process of changing those and putting a new head gasket on. Other than that it has had lots of abuse, 16-18psi boost runs, had a MAF system on it at one point as well. Never had rod bearings or anything rebuilt put on it except a waterpump and t-belt. I have service records all the way back to 88 to. I'm gonna keep driving it to see how far it goes. Hoping for 350k out of it as I just rebuilt the trans last year with new turbo cup clutch. We had a guy in a 944 NA from my PCA region with a 300k mile 944 auto the he said still had the orginal motor in it, and we were doing a track event that day. Although I did see a little blue smoke come out when he had it full throttle around the track, other than that it ran strong from what I saw.

at one time, on the 944 board there was a guy with a 86 944 turbo. he said that his car had 540k without rebuilting the engine or trans. take it for what is worth. mine 944 has 150k with no sign of slowing down.

My brother and I are both 928 fans, his 928 which is an 85 automatic has 312K and no problems, but he drives it reasonable like it should be.
So... I believe it you do the same you can expect many more fun filled miles

I saw a 944 at my mechanics place that had 350k on it, and he said the engine has never been opened.

There was an article in "911 & Porsche World" (British) something like 2+ years ago that featured a never-rebuilt 944 Turbo with somewhere around 360K, if memory serves. This, BTW, is one of my favorite Porsche magazines, and has plenty of material on all Porsches.

Hi Jim!!!
Dick Ruddell over in Clearwater wants to buy us all the beer and pizza we can inhale to celebrate his 200,000th mile for his 944! Thats on Friday night at 7:00 (look over on the front engine list and find the post of "FREE BEER" for details).
Be nice to put a lot of Porsches in the Pizza Joint's parking lot and help him celebrate!!!
