Default Detailing Black Porsche Boxster

Hello, many here may know me from the Concours forum and many more have no idea who in the heck I am......so I figured I would post up a Porsche Boxster I and my business partner Ron, detailed today.

Ron removed the dings and I then tackled the interior later that day. This morning we started the exterior, which was badly marred.

What you see in these BEFORE pictures is marring or halo-scratches. These are not swirls. Swirls are caused from a high speed rotary and using an abrasive pad/product.

Here is what the hood and rear lid looked liked.

This is the paint after being washed and under halogen lamps.

Looks pretty ugly eh? In the sun the edges of those scratches catch the sunlight and reflect back to you and they take on the appearance of circles, hence the nam "halo-scratches". They really aren't circles though but rather hundreds and hundreds of random scratches.

After a 5 step polishing process the paint looks a bit different. Remember that read lid and hood??

The rear plastic windows always get scratched and yellowed. To help prevent this always wipe your window off with a soft damp towel before putting the top down. In this BEFORE picture of the rear window it is dirty, has some water spots on it and some hazing. The water spots were not horrible so they didn't proof to be too tough.

Thank you,
Anthony

1) Optimum Hyper Compound with an orange power pad, high speed rotary at 1700 rpm's.

2) Optimum Hyper with Optimum green leveling pad at 1500 rpm's.

3) Optimum Polish with Lake Country white polishing pad at 1400 rpm's.

4) Optimum Polish with Optimum blue finishing pad at 1200 rpm's

5) Optimum Polish with Optimum ultra fine finishing pad at 1000 rpm's

Well...actually six steps.....the 6th step was using my Cyclo, which is a dual head orbital polisher, with Optimum Polish. This step removes any fine buffer swirls that might be remaining. I then waxed the paint with Optimum spray wax.

She looks great! I had a black Boxster, and have a black 996. I would never let my car get this bad with "spider-webbing", halo's. Some people just don't care, or don't have the time to maintain them.

What products and machine (if any) did you use on the rear window?

I used a high speed rotary on the exterior of the rear plastic window. RPM's were set at 1000 and I used Optimum Polish with an ultra soft foam finishing pad.

It was then hand waxed with Optimum spray wax.
