![Question](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Are there any SAFE jacking points for lifting just the rear of the car. I really don't want to lift one side and place a stand and then lift the other side and place a stand. I'd like to be able to lift one point in the rear and put stands on both sides, mainly for engine access underneath. Any and all advise is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Tierce, just drive the whole car up onto some lift ramps. Much much safer ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
You can buy them at any auto store for about $20 a corner. I built mine using 2x6 lumber.

The shop manuals say a safe jacking point for the rear is under the rear crossmember. It goes under the tranny and the rear aluminum shield is bolted onto it. If you place the jack directly under the front of the shield and make sure you are centered on the crossmember it will jack evenly on both sides. Use a small piece of wood or something soft on top of the jack to keep from scratching everything up. Also know you will bend the edge of the aluminum cover a little so if that will kill you, don't do it. I use this method every time I jack the car so I can get both wheels off the ground and put stands under the regular jacking points.

Another tip,--buy about 4 hockey pucks. $1 a piece. I use them on top of my hard jack stands and floor jacks. Protects the delicate underbody's thin undercoating. The cars are so stiff that you can jack up from one side (at the designated jack points) and actually place two jack stands. Then do it from the opposite side and do the rest. ALWAYS use jack stand when doing work on these beasts. I also leave my floor jacks in position beneath a suspension part as extra insurance.
