Oil for 2001 Boxster?
We recently acquired a 2001 Boxster (non-S), which unfortunately came without an owner's manual. Its now time for me to do my first Boxster oil change. Can anyone tell me what type/grade of oil the owner's manual specifies? Our temperature ranges from 10 degrees in the winter to 95 degrees in the summer if that makes a difference.
Also, how many quarts does it take to refil?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Porsche recommends Mobil 1 0-40. Takes 9.5L to fil, Not sure about quarts maybe somebody can chime in with quarts if you buy your oil that way. I believe it's .95 quarts to 1L. Fill 9L first then fill your last while checking the level on the dipstick until it's full.

I think that is the best grade for the average driver commuter. 10 quarts does not heat rigth up and a low viscosity oil especially Mobile 1 lets thing get lubricated quickly. I guess some compromise for all out driving comparped tp a 15-50 or 20 -50, but for most folks the advantage is in 0-40. Once things get to operating temperature your running a 40W anyway, best of both worlds. I know people will say its good for 15,000. I do mine at 7,500 or one year regardless. Studies have shows 7,500 to 8,500 about the limit for comtaminations and viscosity degrading. But there ia a much to do about oils. 60,000 and running like new. 01 Boxster S.

I believe it's 8.5 quarts. And yes, 0W40 Mobil 1. Do the oil once a season or 5000 miles, whichever comes first. I wouldn't go any more than 5k on an oil change using Mobil 1. Even at 4k that oil is getting dirty, nobody can tell me that that dirt doesn't wear an engine quicker. I hope you are enjoying your new car.
