Default Bank 1?

This issue is on my mom's car ... an '00 boxster, only ~35k miles.

I am reading code P1115 with the autotap OBDII scanner.

I found a list of codes on Renntech, which indicates that P1115 = " Oxygen sensor heating ahead of TWC, bank 1 "

Well, I am assuming that this means that the O2 sensor needs to be replaced? Which side is bank 1?

thanks,
Adrial

Instead of the link that doesn't realy answer the question (except showing the firing order), wouldn't it be easier to say "bank 1 is XXXXXX side"?

I'd assume the diagram, along with the text above it indicate that the passenger side is bank one, and that the cylinder closest to the passenger seat is #1.

If you don't know which way your engine faces - maybe you shouldn't be working on it

Bank 1 is XXXXXX side.

So, the original question referenced a list of codes found on Renntech message board. But then the guy goes on a different message board to ask a question.

Strange way to find out info if you ask me.....

And how did you come up with this theory? Since when does asking about specs has anything to do with ones mechanical abilities? This question is no different than asking what the correct firing order, cylinder numbering sequence or corrent base ignition timing is.

Is it really that difficult to simply give a short and accurate answer to the question?

Apparently, you want to argue and I don't.
The link clearly has the bank designations in the post - I DID answer his question.

Yes you have, in the most confusing way possible.

bank 1 Sensor 1, or B1S1, is on the 1-3 cyl side of the motor. Which on a boxster is assbackwards from a 911, so that puts it on the passenger side, and it is the pre cat sensor. Jay Putnam.
