Default EVO or B&M shifter ?

B&M is more but appears to be a complete assembly. EVO is a hundred bucks less but appears to be only bits and pieces. B&M says 35% less throw while the EVO just says shorter/tighter shifts.

Which one is better for the money ?

thanks,
Tom

Neither, check the auction site for a B & M clone. I have heard great things about it,and it only cost $100.

FWIW, I ordered a Schnell short throw shifter for about half the cost of a B&M. I hope it will arrive next week, so we'll see how the quality is.

A possibly dumb question: has anyone installed both at the same time? I installed a B&M Trak shifter that essentially has a longer lever to put the shift **** level with your hands on the steering wheel. It works fine, but the throw of the **** is only somewhat less than the stock shifter. The other part of the kit that is supposed to reposition the pivot point of the cable attachment on the tranny crank arm is designed for a 996, not a Boxster. I haven't found an equivalent for Boxster trannys, so I was wondering if the Evo device is compatible with a B&M shifter. BTW, the Trak shifter parts in the cockpit are identical to the Boxster short shift kit except for the longer arm that is threaded, not a blade.

IMHO, the bushing adjustment feature that is present in the Porsche and B&M shift kits is a must.

I like the Schnell, the cost was less than the B&M but the directions were easy to read and the install was pretty streight forward and I like the short shifts !!! Install took an hour two two hours due to all the console crap you must take apart.

save your money, buy a Schnell. (my opinion only)

Niether, Porsche OEM
It comes fully assembled in housing. Mine functions better than stock. Even going into first and reverse.
