I wave at everyone--but then again, I'm lonely.

My experience is that our local Porsche Club welcomes all Porsches. All of the members are friendly and I find no caste system within.
When I owned my 993 I found that a few of the 993 posters were abrasive and regarded themselves as the only authority on anything. I further found that some of the other 993 posters worshipped those few.
Within our local club the 993 guys are down to earth.
I do not miss my 993. Relative to my 996 it was less of a car. Slower, noisier, leaky, smaller (no trunk space),and required more maintenance.

lexpilot, I think the 993 is more of a car than the 996. Its smaller and noisier, but slower and leaky?? from a 996 owner?? I do not miss my 996.

I agree the 986 has a bit more electronic features than the past and a body style either you love or hate.

But the 986 car is absolutly beutiful to look at and drive IMO.

I think all models of Porsches has something that appeals to some/all. The 1980's 911 for the close to the metal ride and feel. The 993 for the awesome body styling, the 996 for the new front end styling and road presence.

I like all the models for various reasons and plan on owning one from each genre.

Regards

Every 993 owner I've met appreciates the Boxster, Porsche did a great job with it.
