Default Sensitive Clutch?

Hi, I am the very happy owner of a 2000 Boxster S. My only issue lately is that I feel like I'm always stalling the car. I am by no means a manual transmission novice, but I seem to stall my car routinely. Am I missing something? I feel like I'm 16 again when I stall my car for no apparent reason.

It's pretty darn easy to stall when you first get it. Our 2000 has always grabbed the gear quickly when releasing the pedal. When I've driven the other car for awhile I often stall the Boxster when I first get in because it's so quick on the grab.

My wife stalled it a lot for the first few months we had it, and we've always had manual cars. Lots of fun, though, once you get used to it.

I regularly stalled my 964 and now do the same with the 986. If you treat them like 'normal' cars (i.e. delicately) there is something 'not quite right' about the clutch / revs relationship in my opinion. Having said that, Porsche don't often get it wrong, and I don't seem to ever have a problem if I treat the car 'like an old truck' as you are, of course, supposed to.

I always "blip" the throttle and let out the clutch as the revs fall while giving it gas like u would normally. This seems to solve the "touchy clutch" issue for me.

Don't know what it is, but I have stalled my 987S several times at start-up, while almost NEVER stalled my '86 911. I know that the torque must be greater on the 987S, but it really feels like the old 911 had more torque at low RPMs.

I had the same problem and was told there was a TSB about the clutch pedal assembly needing to be replaced or upgraded. My pedal was a bit soft and the catch point was very touchy. After the replacement of the pedal assembly it felt much firmer and it is much less sensitive bu with better "feel". BTW- I have a 2000 Boxster S.

I had the same issue coming from a 98 Jetta GT to my 99 Boxster. It just takes a couple of hours to get used to. But to truely understand the clutch it requires you to only drive that one clutch for a few weeks in a row.
