Exclamation Total911 - New Porsche Magazine launches Spring 2005

Total911 Magazine - nothing else matters
Launches Spring 2005

Total911 Magazine is the culmination of a lifetime's passion for the Porsche 911. Ardent Rennlisters Rob Mugglestone, John Francas and Editor, Phil Raby, have created Total911 to provide the Porsche community with the magazine you have been waiting for.

As the title suggests, Total911 is 100% committed to the design icon that is the 911 - from the first to the latest - in as much detail as you can handle.

Total911 will feature photography to blow your mind - the photos we wish we could all take; if only we have the talent, the cars and the locations; above all though, we'll give them space to do them justice.

In-depth articles written by knowledgable, authoratative contributors. No more thin, shallow features about cars that 'corner on rails' or 'look fast standing still'; a readership focused on one model will expect, and be delighted by, articles which go beyond any other 911 feature you'll have read before.

Total911 will be truly 'borderless'. Cars and drivers from the US, Europe and the UK will all feature in the magazine, bringing the best 911's the world has to offer to our readership.

We hope you are as excited about the prospect of Total911 as we are. We are proud sponsors of Rennlist and thought you guys would appreciate hearing about this first.

We are offering a 10% discount to Rennlist members on early subscriptions. If you want to know more, go to www.total911.com .

We'll be adding some preview features to the website soon, some downloadable scrensavers of our best photos and more, so keep checking in now and again for updates.

Lastly, if you have any queries about advertising in Total911, fancy yourself as a contributor or have some fantastic photos you'd like us to feature, drop any of us an e-mail.

Oh, and Merry Xmas!!!

John, Phil and Rob.

I'm biting...Porsche mags are my weakness. (I have every GT: Purely Porsche, every Excellence, and most 911 & Porsche World)

Looking forward to the first issue!

Phil et al,,

Right now I have a 986, a 356, a 914/6 and burning desire to have a Porsche tracktor.

Whats in total 964, 993, 996, 997 for me?

lol - you make a good point.

And it's a fair question... Will "Total 911" have articles that appeal to owners of different models, or is it a 911-focused mag?

BTW, I'd like a Porsche tractor myself.

Without giving too much away, though it will clearly be a 911 magazine, there will be plenty of interest from all Porschephiles. We are intending to feature much more in depth features, not just about th ecars per se, but the people and places which are an integral part of Porsche's history and its future. You'll see 911s in places nobody would expect to see a 911. Tech articles will be written by knowledgable contributors and, though they will have a 911 bias, will be of interest to all readers. I really look forward to our first issue and hope you will to.

Happy Holidays

John, sincere best wishes for the mag and its owners. However, as a Boxsterphile I have to admit feeling snubbed. "Total" and "nothing else matters" really does the trick. I realize this is the way it often is but I am curious to know the reasons for not publishing under the entire Porsche umbrella. Seems like you are limiting your possibilities.

Speaking of tractors, have you guys seen this ad? http://www.pca.org/mart/classifieds....uery=retrieval

I too think it would be fun to have a p-tractor. It's got the passenger option. So you could tell you date "I'll pick you up in The Porsche, OK?". To which she'll excitedly reply "Yeah, sure." Then show up on this.

I should write sit-coms .... well OK maybe not

Best of luck with the magazine. Who knows, maybe someday I'll pick up that tangerine 1973 911 that's on my "to do" list, and will be in your target market.

That said, if the mag is still in the planning stages, you might consider broadening its appeal.

Look at Rennlist, for example. The number of posts in the 924/944/968 section is enormous. And then there are 356 fans (like myself) who enjoy reading about the classic Porsches that preceded the 911. And don't forget the Spyders, the RSKs, and so forth. Then there was the 914, which has made quite a comeback on the track circuit. And the 928. And then there's that little 90's roadster that revived Porsche?

The point being that the world of Porsche ownership is already a niche market. By excluding a large portion of Porsche owners, your mag will greatly narrow its appeal. Perhaps that is your intention. But one reason I subscribe to Excellence is that it covers broad coverage of all of the above.

Just my $.02. Best of luck with it!

Total911 Magazine - nothing else matters
Great ... that's all we need, an exclusive "Thumb-Your-Nose-At-Those-Other-NARPs" magazine. Like the gold-chain set doesn't have enough ammunition.

Change the layout/theme/title, or just resign yourselves to offering advertisements to the latest leather steering wheel hand cream or laser projection hood badges.

Why not sack up and develop your own special interest mag? I applaud Phil, Rob, and John.

All 0.02c are welcome. I understand the coments re: narrowing our market. However, we didn't just want to be another excellence or 911 & PW. In a a competitive market, we want to be very focussed. I'm sure this won't be th eonly magazine we ever publish - but we want to wallk before we start running...

Thaks again for all your feedback.

John
