Sal Ricci, sorry to hear of your difficulties, concur with poster above to try lubricating ALL rear suspension bushings with a generous dose of PB Blaster or the like. But FIRST, I would track down the low down good for nothing skunk what sold you such a substandard vehicle and give him/her a serious headache!. Make em pay, and I'm not talking about money either! I've been around the world twice, and spoke to everyone once, and I ain't never heard of such malfeasance, why its heinous is what it is!

What are you talking about? He said it had been sitting over the winter and just now developed the noise. This isn't something that he just bought according to post #1. For all we know he bought this 10 years ago. Would you expect someone who sold you a car to replace every single thing on it before you bought it? Even if he bought it last fall, rubber parts go bad, especially after sitting over the winter which many of us do to our cars where there is something called snow. Even brand new cars fresh out of the factory will have problems, that is why there is something called a warranty.

Oh, I plan on it! Having been around the world twice and spoken to everyone once, i'm sure you can imagine how big of a headache that low down, good for nothing is going to have! Heinous is an understatement!!!!!!

stl_986, thanks for looking out, but Weazer just so happens to be the "low down, good for nothing" from whom I acquired the "substandard vehicle" - lol.

It is actually in impeccable shape, save for the squeaky rear!

Stl_986, apologies, but I was just having some fun with my Son-In-Law whom is the current caretaker of my former Boxster. I still have my 996 though, I used to call them Hans and Franz. The 986 is in good hands as Sal is a car guy and handy with the tools. Take care.

I'll good

On the topic...I have an 03 that has the same noise but the front. Now that Pelican finally got off their butt and had fedex pick up the parts that were sitting on their dock for 3 days I'll be replacing the control arm on mine. Going to also put Koni's on all 4 corners so it's going to be the control arm or the struts. With my luck though it's going to be something else.

Other thing it could be is the sway bar mount bushings.

Shortly after I got my 986, it developed an annoying clunk in the front driver's side going over bumps and braking. I replaced both the front lower control arms and the clunk was still there. Turned out it was the sway bar link, its always the last thing. Check your front sway bar links!
