Default Headlamp Switch

99 boxster base..When turning on the fog lamps the manual says to pull the **** to the 1st position for the fronts and 2nd position for the rear. Is the **** supposed to remain in the pulled out position, mine returns back to the normal position so essentially my fog lights only stay on when holding the ****...Just confirming I need a new lamp switch thanks v

As I recall, you have to rotate the switch at least one position clockwise first (turn on the parking lights), then pull out the ****. If you did this and the **** doesn't stay "out", I suspect a new switch is required.

From memory: Parking light left, parking light right, off, running lights, headlights. That covers the 5 rotary positions of the switch. Then the pull out works in the two rightmost rotations to turn on the fog lights. Can't have fogs and brights on at same time.

Ok..rewired my headlamp harnesses and figured out how to operate my headlamp switch thanks to your responses and all is working good so no need for a new switch BUT I noticed my xenon low beams are different colors. I read that 1 may be not aligned with the other....is this true..makes sense cause when I look at the beams at different angles the color matches. thanks v

By the Xenon is different colors, do you mean one is turning pinkish or purplish? That normally means the bulb is failing. Replace in pairs.

Sounds like there are two different color temperatures of xenon. Still replace in pairs.

It is an upgrade HID kit from Pelican so both are the same temp. It looks like the bulb is hardwired to the harness so not too sure how to get replacements. I think I'll fuss with the alignment first cause I know I changed it trying to unlock the headlamp(was cranking on the wrong nut in the trunk) Thanks V
