Default Anniversary Boxster S

Does it come with wheel spacers? If so, which ones? Are these an easily fitted item? I'm thinking of installing them on MY2003 with RoW 030. I've got the 18" carrera wheels already. Thanks

Here's a quote from the Porsche web site:

"Five-millimeter wide spacers at all four wheels give the special “50 Years of the 550 Spyder” edition an even more powerful appearance and firmer road stance."

I wonder if I told a woman I had an extra 5mm if she'd find me to have a more powerful appearance and "firmer" stance?

Just order the 17mm spacers and put em all around, then you will have the powerful appearance and firmer stance. Actually they really planted my car in the turns, not as twitchy. The look is better. I dont know about powerful. Actually there is more mass so actually less powerful. I still like the look though.

Do you have any photos from the rear or front showing the result of the spacers?

Also, at some point, I imagine that with too much offset, there could be exessive stress on the wheel bolts? Any thoughts on that?

Thanks,
Charlie

I dont have the pics but they are Porsche part numbers. I trust their judgement on that. There is of course a physical limit to how far out they can go without doing some body work. I would say 17mm is pretty close. You can get an off set rim that puts the wheel closer in toward the strut allowing a corespondingly wider tire. I guess it depends on what your after. I do like the handeling much better with the 17mm spacers. Actually they are spacers as the shims do not have their own studs. Just a point of clarification.

5 mm: 996.361.605.90
17 mm: 996.361.617.90 (I wouldn't use these on the Boxster)

These can also be purchased from Rennlist sponsor Carnewal.

Because, the Boxster S pictured above has the 5 mm spacers installed already and the tires are pretty close to the fender. Another 12 mm would bring them that much closer and likely will sit the tire sidewall outside the fender.

aaaaah, ok then.
I can add to that comment.

I have used 15 & 17mm spacers on my Boxster [carerra 5 spokes]
On standard height suspension - they never touched.

On 30mm lower suspension, the tyres tuck inside the guards nicely.
On a day to day basis, there was no rubbing or touching of the guards.

*edit*
My current setup is a little different with Turbo 2 rims...

I have 285's on the back , and use 5mm shims to clear the inner guard
They have "just" touched the inside outer guard 3 or 4 times in the last 17 000km - on one particularly rough stretch of rd.
No damage.

Q, that is one of the best looking Boxsters I have seen. Nice touch with the 996 custom exhaust tips, and very good idea painting the wing to match the tail lights to give it that 993 look. Beautiful car.
