I was there in my recently sold FP Boxster. The primary driver, Vivek G, placed on podium in 3rd place with strong field of 25 FP drivers. He set fastest time on the West course beating 6 time FP National champ John Thomas and the Larson BMW. We got slughtered on more open course due to lack of power. I had terrible day on East course with big spin that took out timer and then two DNF's. I did have decent day on West Course with 7th fastest FP time. I was driving pretty conservative as I wanted a clean run. I had a blast as this was my first National event! Very impressive to see little stock powered 2.5 boxster beat very well prepped and much more powerful national level cars on technical course.

Alan Pozner and Kenny Sorensen are competing right now (BS), you can hear it live: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/solo-nationals-west
May be others, but I didn't recognize their real names.

Rick and Steven McPherson's 944 S2 cab (ninth in F Prepared).
37 Porsches of various flavors (from a 914 to a GT-2) entered or just over 3% of the competitors.

fast driver in the Boxster was also top 40 cars PAX out of nearly 1200 cars. Not bad for a stock 2.5 liter (175 WHP) powered boxster that was 140 lbs over minimum class weight. I knew this platform would dominate prepared classes it just needs a little more development. With a race prepared 2.7 liter motor and real shocks that car will be tough to beat next year. We were just out gunned on power on East course. I'm surprised more people aren't building boxsters for FP and XP. They are superior over any other Porsche for AX.

After so much talking about Vette domination in A-stock, my 2009 co-driver put a good show in a Cayman identically prepared to mine, except 1 sway bar setting that I refused to use last year, but found out to be faster after Nationals 2010. Christine's car ran my settings to the letter, and it proved to be the fastest Cayman in class. If Carl would have listened about a pair of new front tires for day 2, he could have walked away with a jacket. He also messed up the setup on his last run on day 1, and he regrets to have done it.
The interesting part is that most Vettes are on modified shocks, and every Cayman on the grid was on stock shocks. Once a good driver shows up with good shocks on the 100 lbs lighter 2008 Cayman S, I think the Vettes will have a harder time.

The RX7 for instance. I had the chance to run against a National Champion in a RX7 last year. This RX7 had been campaigned at National level for years. The car was competitive years ago, not today. Everything the RX7 does, the Cayman does better. These 2 cars have similar weight, but the RX7 cannot run anything wider than a 245 tire. RX7 on Koni, my Cayman running an extra 100 lbs and 35,000 miles tired stock shocks.
The 1M BMW understeers massively, it can't put the power down anywhere. Test results are showing the lack of performance on this one.
I had a 2008 M3 Coupe DCT, and I co-drove a M3 Sedan 6-Speed, both cars could not get near the Cayman lap times at autocross.
The only cars in the current A-Stock that can get it done are the C5, Mustang Boss 302, Cayman 2.9 with LSD, Cayman 3.4 and 911 40th Anniversary. From this list, my choice is the Cayman 3.4, despite of being the only car without a LSD.
