Where to buy Cones
Anybody have a good source/reccomendation where to buy some cones? I need to buy some new ones for my club. Would be nice to find some lighter ones then we currently have now. Thanks.

I have purchased from Glenn twice. He can ship them via a freight company on a skid and the shipping charges are pretty reasonable. He also has imperfects which are good enough for our purposes and far cheaper.

Thanks guys. I really like the last post as I can now envision a type of AutoX course were the cones are moving (running). Could be real fun!!

My son plays Ultimate (Frisbee) at high school and they use very lightweight cones to mark the field.
You might try locating a supplier for these...

Thanks guys. I found some decent cones at www.orangetraficcones.net. They are approx. $6.60 each when you buy 50+.

From experience as the autox chair in our Region, keep in mind that lightness does not always make a good cone. We have a number of hard plastic ones that are lighter than the typical orange rubber cones. But the hard plastic ones can more easily leave a mark on a car. We use the hard plastic ones for boundary markers only, and try to keep them away from course lines and the cars. While the rubber cones can leave a mark too, they tend to be much gentler on the paint.
Thanks for the supply sources. Had bought last batch from Home Depot when on sale, and hauled them myself (no shipping). But can't find as easily anymore.

Ran an event in Buffalo years ago and took FTD with a D/Mod Lotus 7. They had used heavy cones with LEAD in the top of them to prevent tipping over in a wind. They were appropriated from the local elec company. I hit one at about 60 mph with my front fender of the Lotus. It cracked the fiberglass all the way back to the windshield and was hanging down like a broken arm. Had to repaint 1/2 the car and redo that fender cuz someone (no one ever fessed up) set up a cone with a lead weight in it.

Thanks guys for the extra sources.
Hey Jeeper31 - maybe we can have a NNJR/Metro Challange this year? I have the 2007 trophy sitting on my mantle. BTW, do you have a contact name/number/website for Lakeside Plastics? Thanks.
