The 3 interesting Porsche classing things are

1. 987 Cayman S to the new tweener class - not the '09 but imagine an '06-'08 with carbon brakes (more than 5 lbs unsprung weight savings per corner), PASM, Sport Chrono and the carbon shell sport buckets (40 lbs weight savings).

2. Early 986 Boxster in CS

3. Find the right options for a 997 and join the fight in the new AS

Alan,
The 997 isn't moving to the new AS. The 996 is. Find a good late 996 and you will have a shot with the right shocks.
Thanks for a great course on Sunday. I hit a few too many cones but had a great time.

Oooops. I guess I should have my reading license reviewed. Thanks for the correction and the comments and help with the course. I wish Saturday had been dry as i think that course was actually better.

Soooo, if I bought this 2000 base Boxter what would the set up be for the new C-stock? Would this car be competative? Hoosiers, Koni's of course . Does it need a stiffer front bar? Is the camber adjustable? I do have a spare set of 17" Sport II classics already(they're on the 968). Thanks!

Has the new STR class been officially announced yet, or is it still in deliberations?

Get the parts for complete M030 suspension is your first purchase. I do not know of any performance OEM replacement shocks off the shelf that will help your autocross cause. A few years ago some folks had Koni make custom shocks and the general consensus wsa no faster than OEM. Get as much front camber as you can and as little rear camber. You might look at getting 18" rather than 17 as I believe the stock widths were wider than the 17"s. Probably 1/8" toe out in the front and 0 or a little toe out in the back (very car dependent).

When are they anticipated to set the class in stone for 2010?

It was announced it last month's Solo Column that it is a new class for 2010. I could not find anywhere on the SCCA website a link for that column.

What are the Cayman S "carbon brakes"? I thought the special brakes are ceramic brakes, the PCCB option?

Cheers,
Liz
