She was searching on youtube for autox events and came upon this. I won this event and got my first FTD, and lost my voice and was in the ER two days later with acute bronchitis.
They let the mini go in front of me by almost a third of the way around Devens, and I caught it just after starting on the last runway.
I'm not in there at least driving but if you look real close you can see me shirtless trying to get a tan and paying no attention to the course Good video anyway, was some pretty solid camera work.
I'm lurking on the autocross forum now. I've been a DE'er but crashed my car at Sebring. For those that don't read the racing/DE forum, here is the thread:
Anyhow, is my 06 stock VW Jetta TDI a good car to try out autocross? I'm not in the frame of mind to buy another "track car" and haven't 100% ruled out doing DE's again in the future. However, for now, I'm looking at doing some autocross to keep my "speed genes" satisfied. I did one autocross a few years ago in my GT3 and didn't really like it that much. I'm open to giving it another shot however.
Autocross is an aquired taste for some, it was for me. It was my only outlet last year so I went and became the doormat for all of the clubs at Devens last year. Spins? Hell yeah! 2 spins? Sometimes, but they don't send you home. At least I didn't finish the season in last place with the Porsche clubs. Kinda frustrating getting hosed by Miatas but I got used to that. I mowed a lot of cones and lost my way plenty of times and sometimes still do. Still having fun and still learning.
