autocross and radiator damage
anyone other than me break the lower hose fitting on a radiator on their car autocrossing? I mowed some cones and must have caught one or two just right to force one up into the lower radiator hose, breaking the radiator. It cracked at the hose fitting.
Seeing if anyone has come up with something to prevent this from happening again before I reinvent the wheel and design something myself.

Not yet. Front splitter of the GT3 RS mostly slams cones to the side because it is so low. I don't ever remember getting one under the car. Got some dents/scrapes in my rocker panel from an agricultural experience last Saturday though. Apparently some big pieces of loose asphalt lurking in the grass at Devens.

David- unless I'm missing something in their product lineup, which is entirely possible, I don't see anything that addresses the underside of the car. The lower radiator hose attaches on the lower, back side, of the radiator.

Yes, I had the same thing happen. My 996tt is fairly low, and a short cone just popped up in that space once. Lucky me. I haven't tried to make a bracket to block that space.

I just had this happen to me tonight.
I hit some cones at autocross and radiator spewed fluid.
I had to get the car on a flat bed tow truck and taken to the dealer.
Any ideas what I am going to have to pay to get this fixed? I'm wondering about this.
It's a 2010 Turbo

this has happened to multiple 40th anniversary 996s which also have the turbo front.

UGh, that sucks Fortunately, it will clost you a lot less now than 10 years ago, thanks to every day coolant tech catching up to porsche specs, and being able to just grab a couple $10 bottles off the shelf of your local big box/auto store vice the insane porsche tax.
I don't suppose it's something you can fix with a little jb weld?

Stop hitting cones. Bwa Ha Ha! I hit one or two cones per season with the front of the car. But the fat *** of the RS often nips them just with the rear tire. Not even hard enough to hear but they sometimes do fall over. And then again I sometimes tickle a lot of cones causing a lot of workers to run and adjust.
