Default Toyo RA-1s/Autocross

I have a set of gently used Toyo RA-1 tires. the tread is still pretty good. It is supposed to rain for our autocross this weekend. Can I/Should I use the Toyo's or my street tires?

I don't know how good your street tires are, but I never got my RA-1s to grip at autocross, even in the dry with ambient temps in the 80s. Maybe their deep grooves make them a better rain tire, but I'd wear my street tires (Michelin PS2s) over RA-1s.

Street tires are Toyo T1-Rs.

If the RA1s are green then they will actually be slower in the rain. If they are scrubbed in/ the surface is scuffed and there is decent thread depth (say 3/32s or more) they will be better than any street tire barring a monsoon hitting.

By green do you mean new?

They have about 7/32nds of tread on them. The were used for one 2-day track event.

Use the RA-1s without a doubt. They are grippy as hell in the wet.

I'm on the other team (NJ) competing against you this weekend, and I'm bringing my RA-1s! Good luck (you'll need it!)

Yeah, use the Toyo's.
They're a good rain tire and not too bad in dry either.
Y'all keep that wet up there this weekend!

Ha ha ha! No, we're friendly competitors. The RA-1 is a giant slayer in the rain,...one of the best kept secrets in r-comps. Only time they are more impressive is when it is rainy AND cold. I ran them at Pocono North Course in 19 degree temps with snow squalls (no one ever said I was that smart ) and they literally had grip on the first lap.

All points are moot now. DHL sent three of my tires to my house in Long Island and the fourth to Rhode Island. I spoke to someone yesterday and they made a call and told me it is flagged and will be at my house today. When I tracked the parcel i found that it was sent back to Ohio. No chance of getting it by tomorrow.

DHL Stinks.

That sucks. Oh, well...narrower gaps in the rain anyway, streets will be fine.
