Default would you run kumho 710s, or wider 700s?

Hi all. I have two sets of wheels. One is 9x18 front, 12x18 rear.
The other is 8x18 front and 11x18 rear. I can run 265/35 + 305/30
kumho 700s on the bigger wheels, or I could run 245/40 + 285/30
710 kumhos on the narrower wheels.
Which would you run for maximum lateral grip at street speeds?
thanks in advance for your opinions,
Joe Weinstein

Hi Joe,

This is Steve down in Southern Calif.. Good question. If you are talking Auto-X. Bigger is almost always better if you can get heat in the tires. Q. would be can you get a 265's on the front? I guess is you had enough negative camber. Still, a lot more diameter.

I will say having run both tires on various cars the 710 are very sticky.

To bad we can't get the V700's in a 245. Doesn't seem to be any available.

Let us know how it works out.

Have Fun! Steve

PS: If you are driving the tires to events don't get caught in the rain with the 710's.

I would try this the 285/30r18 710 on the wide set 9x18 frnt and the 12x18 rear.
we have found that the tire works well some folks have over 100 runs on a set.
the 710b are light years better for autocross than the 700 don't get hooked up
on tire sze for the rim. I run a 275/17 on a 7.5 on the front of the 968 and it works
for me.

Can the 710 be driven on the street?

How would the 710's compare to the Hoosiers?

I heard the Hoosiers can not be driven to the events, puncture to easy.

The Hoosier 04/05s do have steel belts so thy're more durable than the 03s by a mile,
which I ran up to 180 miles to an event (in my foolish youth). I still think the Kumhos
(either 700 or 710) will be more durable.

G:

Don't drive them on the streets. A friend with a C6 Z51 got 42 autocross runs on V710 not driving them on the streets.

I can fit 4 tires in my car, it's a real pain to get them in and out.

I'm getting the Porsche Roof Rack and with two extra rails from Home Depot, I can make a nice tire rack for 4 tires.

Quick Reply: would you run kumho 710s, or wider 700s?
