Default Who's going to the SCCA Solo2 National Tour in DC?

Are Porsche that bad in auto-x?

Only 4 Porsches out of 250 drivers registered.

Am I missing something?

Default Are you going?

I'm signed up. It's one of the best sites in the Northeast. There are still 100 openings. Come out and prove yourself against the best.

6 Porsches out of 326 drivers registered.

A lot of people will be testing their cars at the WSCC event on Orchid Beach this Sunday.

Porsches are great cars for autocross, but unfortunately they're all underdogs in the most popular Stock classes. Looking at the entry list, it looks quite likely that G.H. Sharp or one of the Kozlaks will take A Stock, though.

I'd like to go, but it's a bit far to bring my car (I live in Seattle). Anyone want a codriver? I will pay for a seat in a competitive car. I even have references!

NJ-GT: Have you done any NNJR PCA autox events at the Meadowlands?

That's where I play regularly! (Red 944S2, #42)

#42?

I know that car. S7 class leader.

I've done quite a few auto-x in NNJR in S10 class. Hence my reason to be concerned about the few number of Porsches in the SCCA National Tour.

Very good driver like Rick, Adam, McDougall, Diane, Howard, Bill...... They could be rocking at D.C.

PA, NY, CT PCA chapter have very good drivers as well. Where are they?

That's me!

Yeah, I'm sure Newman, Fusi, Boyer, Flynn and others would do real well in SCCA competition...

Thanks for the kind words, Zman, but my current steed is not a good autocross car. I need the co-drive option as PedalFaster mentioned. It worked for me last week in my old car, that's for sure!

PedalFaster:

Have you considered Matt Watkins for AS?

He ran an event at Philly on Victoracers and he was a tad faster than the Kozlaks running the new Hoosier (0.3 sec). For the Nationals he will be on Hoosiers.

I just got my Grassroot Motorsport magazine. The 2003 ASP champion Z06 vette runs 305f/315r Hoosiers.

Can we fit 305f Hoosiers in a Boxster/996?

No I hadn't -- thanks for the pointer. I'll probably pass on contacting him, though; in my limited experience, you can't just jump into a WRX and drive it competitively like you can a Miata or a Boxster. AWD cars have strange handling quirks that can baffle people used to RWD (like me! )...

Thanks,
Steve

Opsy! You are correct: let me add:
Mintz, the Szecznys, Diane Kovac, Gilbert, Adam & Julie, Rocca, Adam Crews....

...oh yeah, and some guy who drives a purple 914!

Sorry Pesky! I stand corrected.

FWIW: http://www.centralpaporsche.org/autocross/index.html
Above is link to our Central PA PCA AX page featuring Dave Newman after getting FTD on Mother's Day at Hershey. Note 2nd place finisher was Allen Kugler (current SCCA CSP champ?)in a Honda Civic (followed by a few more CRXs - including Nic Monterastelli who has gone over to the dark side). Granted these are dedicated AX cars with excellent drivers, but they walked all over the P-cars.
We need some more P-car drivers to maintain Porsche honor. Note Dave's FTD time of 1:31, the course map and the number of competitiors. Everyone got 4 runs plus some "fun" runs and we were outta there by 2pm. I thought I was a hot shoe in an old car till I saw the 4 bangers romp. I don't think I would fare very well at the FedEx event.

Opps, to open the page, select "Autocross" under the "Events" drop down.

What kind of lot is that?

2:00 a lap?

That's longer than Lime Rock
