Default Record Cleaning Machines

I want to purchase a record cleaning machine. Trying to stay within a budget I'm looking at two machines ... the VPI HW -16.5 and Okki Nokki. Both are around $650. Has anyone used either one? Are all record cleaning machines basically the same in this price range?

My dealer cleaned about 20 records of mine using the Okki Nokki. The record cleaning machine did a much better job than the $80 Spin Clean machine I've been using.

I've been using the VPI for years. Works great. My only complaint would be its noisy, I mean loud as a home vacuum cleaner. On the other hand, powerful as a home vacuum cleaner too! Its crazy overbuilt, probably could handle cleaning scores of records every day for decades, with only needing to change the cleaning "lips" fabric every few hundred sides. Or thousand. Don't know, haven't got there with mine yet.... good as the VPI is, my impression would be if you're happy with the Nokki and its smaller/quieter then go for it. Unless you need to clean Michael Fremers massive collection you'll probably be just fine.

I also have the VPI 16.5. I have been using it for a number of years. Its very well made, easy to use and replacement parts are readily available.

Same here I'd go with the VPI.

I have had the VPI 16.5 for 3 or 4 years now. Does a good job, but as others have stated, it is very loud. The only issue I have heard of is that you sometimes have to tighten the shaft to the platter when it gets loose. Hasn't happened to me yet, I've cleaned about 7 feet of vinyl so far.

Yes, 7', I'm not counting them, that's just how long the stacks are.

I use the 16.5 also. great machine and yes it is noisy but does the job. The solutions you use can make a huge difference on the results.

You can pick them up on audiogon used for less than new.

My first cleaning fluid would destroy a microfiber brush. I assumed it was the alcohol. I have never heard anyone else post about this. It seemed to make the fibers of the brush stick together. I have sense kept the two always apart.
