Stumped...
Have a 5 channel amp I am installing which has three amps in it:
(A) which is powering the front speakers, outputs to a xover for the speakers which are comprised of seperates; 4" mid and 2" tweeter
(B) which is powering the rear speakers, consisting of (on each side):
One 6.5" mid woofer
One 4" mid
One 2" tweeter
(C) Subwoofer
The amp is 2 OHM stable..
Question is how to connect the rear speakers...
The 6.5" mid woofer came with it's own x-over as well did the 4"/2" seperates. I was thinking of running two sets of speaker wires from the (B) amp to the rear speakers, one set to 6.5" and the other to the 4"/2" separates.
To be specific, using the left output of the (B) amp as an example:
The left outputs + and - would, if only connecting one speaker, would have one wire going out to the speaker. Since I need to run effective TWO speakers on each side I was thinking I should insert TWO wires in the + and - outputs, one pair going to the 6.5" x-over which then feeds into the 6.5" speaker and the other pair going to the 4"/2" seperates x-over and then into the respective speakers.
Is this how I should do this?

You want to run the front components to channel 1 and 2. For the back speakers all you have to do is take the 6 1/2 mid bass driver and the 4" component set on the same channels. so the back left 6 1/2 and the 4" component set go on channel 3 and the other side on channel 4. Then the sub goes to channel 5. What amp is it. The fronts are going to have to be crossover very high. 4" does not hadle lower mid bass. I would start the fronts at 150hz and go from there. The backs should be crossover at about 60-80hz because of the 6 1/2 . I am not a big fan of putter 6 1/2 and 4" on the same channel because the 6 1/2 can handle mor mid bass and the 4 will start to destort before the 6 1/2 gets going. I know they come with passive crossovers but adjusting the amp right is very critical to end sound. You should really have gone with a dedicated 3 way set. It comes with a 6 1/2, 4" and tweeter with one crossover to cross them all over. What 6 1/2 did you buy that come with a crossover and are run alone with no tweeter. That is not to common today. Most of the time a speaker is either sold as full range or components with a passive crossover. I would also say you want your best speakers up front because that is were you are and you dont want it to sound like most of the music is coming from behind you.

I dont do much kenwood, does it have adjustalbe crossovers. What is the model of the mb quarts 6.5.
I want to look them up. Are you sure they are not intergrated components with a crossover. That means they have a tweeter built in them and you still use a crossover to the speaker.

I am under the understanding this is going into the 928 ? The 6 1/2 must be old design they are not on mb quart web site. Were in the rear are you puting the 6 1/2 ? Everything you have will work fine but that is not the way I would have designed the system. I would have tried to do something to get the bigger ( 6 1/2 ) speakers up front. That is your most inportant set of speakers. I dont see too many 928s in my shop, it has been about 3-4 years since I did a system in one. So I dont remember the factory speaker lay out. If you could , you would be better off putting them up front with the 4" component set.

All speaker sizes and locations are OEM. There is not room in the doors 4" placement for anything larger. Bottom of door MIGHT be able to do 5 1/4maybe

From what I remember the 928 took 4" front and back . where are you putting the 6 1/2 in the back?
I dont remember 6 1/2 in the back of the 928... but it has been awhile since i worked on one.

Unless the 928 had factory subwoofers located in the back and that is where you are going to put the 6 1/2. I dont remember them having oem subs for those cars but with 4" all around you would need something for low end..

ok. now I know what you are working with. Those were the woofers in those systems. So you are going to put mid bass drivers in there. That will work. Do you know what the crossovers on the amp are and how to adjust them. That is going to be critical in how the system sounds with 4" mid drivers. You will have to cross them over alot higher than the 6 1/2. If you dont want them to distort as modest volumes.
