Buying Advice: 07 TT 5K miles vs 09 TT 40K miles
Found a 07 and 09 with similar specs (sports chrono, adaptive sport seats, heated seats). Both cars are the color combo I want (black/black). They are within 3K of each other in price.
The 07 is has a "flashed chip" and Fabspeed intake/headers/exaust. Also has a radar detector built in. Both upgrades that I would enjoy and probably make anyways.
The 09 is stock.
I'd rather get a 2009 for the upgraded electronics (mainly bluetooth), but all other things aside I don't really mind having to upgrade the stereo system on the 07 since I wouldn't really do much else with the tune/intake/exaust already being done.
My main question is, a car with that low mileage at that age concerns me that I'll have high costs in maintenance because things haven't had a chance to develop/break yet. Am I totally off base? Anything else I should be bringing into consideration?
First time Porsche buyer, but def. have done my homework (at least I think so).
Thanks!
Edit: I plan to use this as a somewhat daily driver, so it would def. be driven regularly. However, I live in the midwest so weather can get pretty bad in the winter. I have another car that I can use on days when it's nasty out just to save the car the risk of being hit/damaged somehow.

There's no substitute for low miles, just less wear and tear. I also don't prescribe to the theory of not driving causes issues. Maybe in the aircooled days but not on modern cars. As long as all the fluids and maintenance are up to date you're good.

I guess I didnt mean that not driving it would have caused issues directly, but moreso that none of the major services that someone would have performed had they hit 10K/20K/etc would have been ironed out. So, even though its new, I'll still have to do some maintenance on it as a function of it being SO new. But I guess I'd have to do that on the older one too to a degree. Just wondering.

Actually, I'm going to change my response.
A 2007 Turbo with only 5K miles is worth way more than a 2009 Turbo with 40K miles. Go with the 2007 car.

Three Wheelin'
Tips or manuals, coupes or cabs?
I've owned both. I'm not a fan of modified cars and found that my flashed 07 Tip was not as reliable nor as good as my stock 09 6MT. True, the PCM in the 07 is outdated so I swapped it out for a Pioneer AVIC system which I enjoyed. But, the 09 PCM also performs the same functions so it's a wash. I also prefer last of breed (997.1), lower production numbers, and (earned/unearned) hype surrounding the 09 which will (IMO) always make them "more desirable" in the future.
But, I also have trouble believing on 07 even with low miles is the same price/value as an 09. I've been in the market for a while and would only pay in the $65K +/- for an 07. JMO.

Counting all costs, and having a TT with 96K miles, you need to calculate those miles at $1/mile.
So for sure, the low miles TT.
+1 what TT Surgeon said.

I'd go for the 09 for the upgraded interior (the 997.1 interior with the phone buttons is too dated a look for me) and totally stock vehicle (although the low miles are very very tempting!).
From the value standpoint is two years depreciation = 35000 miles?
Does the 07 have the parts to restore to stock condition as some people want to buy stock vehicles and not ones that have been hopped up should you ever need to sell in the short term?

Ditto, I'd go with the low-miles '07 any day unless its condition was somehow much worse than the '09. You can replace the whole PCM system with aftermarket if desired. Even in the '09 PCM 3 version, it's already outdated.

Today, both cars should've had AT LEAST a 20K and 40K mile service. Services, as Surgeon describes, are by time or mileage, whichever comes first.
The 40K mile service is not cheap if you're paying to have it done. Either way, just because it has low miles it still needs to be serviced. Ask to see the records.
