took about 3 weeks to do it. OMG was it some work. I have probably $800 worth of materials in it but i've now done my porsche, viper, ducati so i'm probably a good bit ahead. i went with porter cable DA, chemical guys 8 pad system, 3m 3 step, wolfgang sealant. i will never wash a car again without my foam gun, two buckets, and blower

hardest part it the car was black and even though only has 32k on it it hasn't been washed correctly so i spent a lot of time pulling out scratches but since it was black the hard water spots were painful.

I polished the wife's Honda minivan this weekend... Fg400 Menzerna, Sonax Nano Polish, then polymer net shield from Sonax.

Will NEVER do that again lol.

anyone who does this get a back brace, small mechanic roller chair, compression shirt and tennis elbow wrap

seriously that is what you need plus a good set of headphones. i have an AC garage and to be honest i would do it again today. with all the above i have no pain whatsoever. i found it therapeutic for the most part. scariest part was wondering if you were going to burn through the paint even though PC 7420 is suppose to take a lot of guess work out.

taping up the car wasn't fun but removing all that compound would have been a nightmare. i sealed everything including the gaskets. FYI use ultra polish on your door gaskets and everything else to get the gunk off before you seal.

one reason it took so long is before the back brace and compression my back would be killing me and i focused on one panel at a time. i focused on getting it close to perfect before moving on to the next.

if you are going to do this and your car is pretty good shape then you can skip heavy compound. on my viper i did, wash, clay, compound roof, fenders and trunk. Then polished the car with a more aggressive pad and therefore skipped the compound on the doors and bumpers since they didn't have water spots. Then ultra polished and sealed. Compounding is the worse because removing it is harder than the polish.

This is my 2nd black race car. Now that i know how to maintain one and properly wash one i wouldn't hesitate. White is much easier to keep up with though....

Basalt black is amazing when it's clean...which is what motivates me to keep mine clean.

Do you have a silver crest on your frunk? Have any pics? Been wanting to swap out my stock gold one for a silver one.

Nice results. I know how much work is involved. I started with a worse base condition and spent three months over one winter perfecting my paint. The key to keeping it like that will be keeping others away.

I spent the last 3 weekends working on my paint, black also. I used the Griots BOSS creams, great stuff with the Griots 6" orbital. I changed out the backing plate to the 5" for a little more versatility.
