Default Guidance on brake pad/caliper maintenance

I'll soon be needing to refresh the brake pads on my 2007 997.1 Turbo. On top of the pads themselves, what else should I be replacing? Different retailers seem to recommend different parts; some say replace the dust boots, others the sensors. Would be keen to get a definitive list so I can do it all at once.

Unless u go after market. I just finished doing all my rotors, brakes and pads. I bought all my parts from Sonnen Porsche. They have the cheapest prices. One note and observation, the OEM brake pads are like 180 for the fronts and back each. Go textar, jurid or pagid as they are OEM suppliers. Don't pay the Porsche tax on brake pads.

My recommendation is to buy the genuine Porsche front pads and OE Textars for the rear.. The Textars will bed in very quickly. The genuine front pads are perfect for the street. If you track your car there are other choices.

Thanks for the advice. I'll go with OE for now and replace rotors and pads with AM slotted rotors and more track focused pads once the OE rotors wear out.

The question was more around the additional parts that should be replaced when swapping out pads, such as sensors, dust boots, valve caps, bolts and clips etc. Want to make sure I order everything I need so I don't end up paying exorbitant OPC parts prices!

Thanks for the recommendation on the parts supplier, they're not only cheaper than the OPC, but way cheaper than Pelican etc, really appreciate it!

I haven't had the need to replace the sensors. I have changed out my pads a few times swapping them out and if you are careful then you can re-use the sensors. As far as the retaining clip goes I have re-used those as well. You sound like someone that is on top of your brake pad and unlikely to need the sensor to tell you it's time to replace. An option is to simply tie back the sensors and not have them on at all if you happen to break one of them during removal.

No one mentioned it but get the Motive bleeder device. If you bleed brakes you'll love it! I use it all the time since I do my own service on all my vehicles. By the way this video is helpful but the rear brakes on the Turbo are different. They do not have the center pin he is removing. The whole caliper has to be removed. The fronts are similar and have a bolt that runs thru them.
