LA gathering
Try posting this on the other forum 6SO in their SoCal regional section. A few of us try to get together every Saturday or Sunday and drive the A-crest (hwy 2) up to Newcombes ranch. The restaurant parking lot sees some nice exotic and rare sports cars.......and bikes too.

It initially seemed this gathering didn't have enough support to make it a reality. Maybe we should make another run at the idea. I'm thinking if we could get a half dozen or so turbos together it would be a good start. It's a logistical challenge though, do we do just a morning coffee somewhere or do we combine it with a driving component (we probably all agree that would be a big plus). I suspect the interested participants could be spread from the valley to the west side, then down the coast to the OC which presents another challenge as to where, particularly with a driving element. The best drives in So Cal are probably Angeles Crest, the Santa Monica mountains or maybe southern OC. Unfortunately those tend to be on the fringes of where we live. There are some nice curvy roads where I live in Palos Verdes, but they're not completely rural.
Anyone want to weigh in with any suggestions or ideas on how we can pull this off?

I would love to meet you guys and check out your cars. However I suggest being very careful about a fun run where folks could possibly get in over their heads and/or have unpleasant encounters with law enforcement or cyclists etc. You probably heard the tragic story recently of the young guy recently killed in a crash while driving his 911 in the Santa Monica mountains with some sort of group -- that was on the road I just took to work this morning. Not trying to be Debbie Downer but these roads need to be taken very seriously, especially in rockets like ours.
That said, I know various routes and food/hangout spots around Camarillo-Agoura-Calabasas-Malibu if this area may work for everyone.
Keep us posted!

If there is a consensus here it's for the Santa Monica Mountain area. I guess that could be from either the Valley or the West side. I don't have a lot of familiarity with that area so I'm begging off on picking a place. I think it might make sense to start with a coffee somewhere to see if there is any interest at all (in real terms). If that were to happen then the collected group could decide whether to do it again and the specifics of future events including a driving component. Anyone what to offer a specific location and/or time?

Track Day
I'm down to go. I'm the guy normal all set to go when the rest of the crew flakes, ha.
To echo a previous post, I know plenty of roads around, and north of, the Ventura County side of the G.L.A. Schism. (ie Malibu canyons, and on up further north than is necessary for a day meet.) I do agree, also, that the canyon runs aren't the best for a group meet - one guy usually winds up being too reckless, and someone has a, hopefully, close call while trying to keep up. Plus it is now usually infested with weekend warrior cyclists with bad attitudes.
Anyway, whatever. Down to meet Porsche guys since I only know a scant amount and need to pick up some knowledge about these cars.
