Brief intro, just bought a 997.1
This purchase came as a complete surprise to me, my wife and my friends (who better know me as “the proctologist” due to my tendency to over-analyze most things in life especially car purchases).
I was just trolling the RL vehicle market place and opened an advert.
The photos showed a car that seemed almost obscenely attractive………… TMI I know.
I called a trusted advisor (Ilko) to get a bit of feedback on 997 Turbo ownership experience, chatted with the owner and sorted out the PPI with Doug @ Race Technik in Mesa AZ, (thanks Todd L).
PPI showed the car needed a few minor things all well within my capabilities to sort out.
Carfax was usual confusing mess, no damage history, but might have as many as 6 previous owners, or maybe as few as 3??????? It seems like this car was a “rich-mans” toy, that was owned for a year, then traded into a dealer, then the cycle was repeated. The next to last owner kept it for nearly 3 years and showed it some love.

and I flew to PHX last Tuesday, met the owner, checked the car out and did the deal.
It was as close to a whim purchase as I could ever imagine. Totally out of character for me for a purchase of this magnitude.
Driving home from PHX to San Diego across the mostly deserted Route 8 was a total exercise in restraint @ 80mph (mostly).
I really, really like the car’s aesthetics, though the interior vents in yellow are a bit challenging.
It’s LOUD, probably too loud. Unknown aftermarket exhaust sounds like the cat's are filled with confetti instead of rhodium / palladium baffles.
But it passed CA smog yesterday so I now know it’s a keeper.
The chassis is surprisingly good, with great turn-in response. Standard PASM and Champion (H&R?) lowering springs. I suspect it has a better-than-stock alignment.
Having fun, no major mod’s planned, but will be looking for a leather steering wheel in black or grey to replace the plastic wheel that is on now.
And
Will look into the magic TPC PASM control box.

Nice pick up. This car has been on the market for a while. I remember seeing it for sale in June when I got mine. Yellow is a great color, for the unique buyer! Have to ask what do you think about those vents in yellow?
All the best with it, looks great
