GT3 suspension in 997

http://carsguns.com/porsche/gt3-susp...tter-handling/ This is my goal, to get my 997.1 turbo to handle like a GT3. Great read.

I went down that route and not as easy as it first appears. To get to that level of handling from a turbo, I had to go a custom packed LSD and a two inch wider front track, took out about 150 from the car along with a host of other suspension changes. I can hang with GT2 RS in the turns, but in the medium, long runs they still get me due to the weight and my stock brakes!
I definitely love the car now, but want to do so much more............... Great stuff you have on your car.

If i really wanted GT3 suspension performance, the first thing I would do is install a set of GT3/GT2 uprights....
I really got to get me a turbo one of these days..... it is on my list!

Wow, 2" wider front track over stock. And they managed this with stock fenders? Or do you mean they gave you more camber by putting in camber shims, there for widening ur track. Hope they put in axle spacers

Alternatively, you can get pretty close with hard core parts. MCS (or similar) double or better triple adjustable coil overs, adjustable sway bars. Roll bar and harness, dedicated track wheels and tires (slicks).
Remember it's a compromise, anything that makes it more track capable is going to adversely affect street use.

I have found that installing a set of JRZ coilover's makes a HUGE difference in the handling on these cars. We usually have them custom made to order for our customers. Let me know if i can be of assistance.

Thank you guys. The car drives amazingly well in my opinion. I have the Bilstein PSS10's on there with eibach springs in the front, full suspension by TPC Racing, custom packed LSD, 3/4 inch longer wheelbase, 2 inch wider front end (required changing the drive shafts) - it's basically a GT2 RS geometry. I run the TPC Racing's DSC module which comes with 3 maps and I'd say by far the best investment you can make on the suspension. I also put in their 775 Blitzkrieg package with the bigger VTG turbos and on pump gas it gets about 570 hp and 530 lb-ft of torque at the wheel. About 650 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque on racing fuel.
I also took about 150 lbs out of the car and added the full AiM telemetry system and camera for track days. Haven't fully tested this out as I just had it installed.
The wheels are 19x8.5 front and 19x12 rears, running 245/35 fronts and 325/30 rears with Pilot Super Sports. Love those tires and they are lasting way more than I expected as I would love to go to Cup 2s once available in these sizes.
I had Randy Pobst drive it in Sebring this past January and he loved it. That is more than good enough for me.

That is outstanding, I'd love to check out your car at njms this summer.
I've always said that a properly setup 997tt makes a wicked track beast, eating most gt3s for lunch.
