Softronic tune and plugs?
I am considering purchasing the Softronic tune however, I also hear from people that you need to change out your plugs for a colder set. Is this true? Can OEM plugs not be used with this tune?
I just had my OEM plugs changed out as they were due. Would hate to have to back in and do it again.

They do recommend colder plug, I did see one post saying the OEM ones were ok, but that goes against everything else I have heard. Send Scott a msg, I am sure he will get you the answer. However you missed his sale....
Have you considered the FVD? Sale is through today, and it does NOT require different plugs. Plus Rhonda and FVD were a pleasure to deal with.

Most folks who have issues with OEM plugs (e.g. misfires etc) are usually running the tune with OEM plugs that are >10K miles old

Every tuner outside of ST uses oem plugs even a higher hp levels. Let us know what input you receive from Scott.
I have a 93 tune on OEM plugs with about 5k miles w/o issue.

PS..I think they just got over 2 feet of snow dumped on them where Softronic is located....so Scott may be out shoveling or something? ....Or maybe launching snow into the ocean with a TUNED snow blower

Scott did get back to me over on the other forum. He's going to give me a call so we can chat as I had a few other questions for him re: the tune. Thanks again!

Wanted to update this thread for those that care. Chatted with Scott today in length about this tune etc. No need for new plugs - OEM will work just fine. Naturally, given the bump in power and if one is in boost regularly a new set would be required sooner than the recommended interval time.
I'm sold on Scott and his tune. Will be getting this very soon!
Thanks again all for the feedback and info.

My Softronic tune is fantastic - you won't be disappointed! Are you running 91 or 93 Octane? As a related side note, I have a very minor bump in power on our 2011 BMW 335i coupe, it was BMW's software upgrade (in conjunction with their sport exhaust) and even with a 30 hp or so increase in power, they recommend a shorter interval for plug changeouts, so by extension, Scott's comments make perfect sense.

We have 94 Octane in Alberta, too, although only at a few stations in major centers. I am running the 93 as well. I would be interested to know the horsepower and torque difference between 91 and 93 Octane tune. With our Mazda Speed6, going with 91 Octane results in a loss of about 30 hp, or about 10%, so quite significant.
