EVOMS Tip Transmission Flash
Has anyone installed both the engine and tip transmission tune? I'm definitely installing the engine tune next week; and considering the transmission tune as well. Claim is that it does a great job balancing the engine tune which tend to be very aggressive. Supposed to increase rev limit and shift quicker.

The tune is made to go with our engine software. Peak rev limit is raised, extending the useable range in each gear. The shifts are sped up, so the shift is completed and power is being transferred in less time than stock. Both qualities make the car sportier, and match the extra hustle that the tune gives you.
Torque limits are also raised to match the output of the tune, which allows all of the power the engine/hardware are set up to make to be used. Edit: Below 4500rpm, this is worth 50 to 60ft-lb on a Stage 1 or 2 car as the transmission computer will limit engine output otherwise. On more modified setups, or those with bigger turbos it is worth much, much more.

Think about it twice... I don't think you should play with the transmission....
Just flash the DME and you will have enough power to race whoever you want.... This Tiptronic transmissions are fragile and I warranty you they won't pay 30k for a new transmission if something goes wrong
I had my 2007 997TT tiptronic with exhaust and tune and it was crazy!

Our engine tune has the over rev ranges modified to keep this system working as it did stock. The lower ranges will still essentially indicate that the engine has hit the limiter, and the higher ranges would indicate a mechanical overrev. Sort of moot to discuss on a Tiptronic, since the transmission will upshift at the limiter and not let you overrev on a downshift. But driving at/beyond the stock limiter with our engine and TCU tune will not rack up a bunch of range 1/2/3 over rev hits.

There are some issues mostly with fluid leaks, for which Porsche has decided to replace transmissions as a solution. But that kind of failure is going to happen regardless of how much power is being made--the ones I've dealt with personally have been on low mileage, garage queen cars. In a warranty situation, that type of failure should be covered regardless of modification; and if someone's going to be picky from there you've already got the engine tuned which is essentially on the same level as the transmission in the eyes of the non-mod friendly.

I would strongly disagree that the Tiptronic trans is fragile. The 996/997TT trans is one of the strongest and most reliable automatics ever made. I challenge you to find even a consumer grade truck transmission that will run as smoothly with as much power as the MB box. We run up to about 600whp through stock transmissions without any major reliability issues, far beyond what we're discussing here. The tip transmission it's not fragile if the car is stock, but when you do any modifications to the car the manual transmission is way more hardcore...I I can show you paperwork....

I'm actually in Houston that weekend. TWS was a blast, it's nice and high speed. I'll let you know the next one we look at doing. I tried to get into COTA in march for the BMW event but it's full with a huge waiting list for the blue group.
