Default 08 Werks 1 Turbo won't start. Lots of fail msgs.

Started happening this week. Just got the car about 3 weeks ago, 08 Werks 1
Turbo with 5800 miles.

Drive the car from cold then it sits for 3 to 4 hours. Go to start and get;
PSM fail, ABS fail and depress clutch, sometimes also indicator fail, oil gage
fail and system fail visit workshop. I changed the clutch switch and added a
new battery, thought everything was fine then same thing last night. After
messing with it for 45 min finally got it to start with just PSM fail, depressed
the brake a bunch and the abs fail went away, just luck I think.

No leaks that I can see and I went through all the fuses.

What type of ECU tune does your car have, if it has one. It sounds like that could be part of the problem.
Hope you get the problem fixed soon.

Be sure to check the connections from the battery to the car. Verify the alternator is putting out the juice. It may appear to work ok initially but its output may fall off after a bit of time.

Also, you need to check for signs of rodent damage.

^^^^+1, check battery voltage, connections and alternator. The number of error codes you're getting upon startup is very much a sign of low voltage, hence there isn't enough juice at startup to power all the systems so the ECU reads these as failures.

i wouldnt be worried. its probably the battery. i had similar issues on my car. you have a super low 5+ year old battery... replace it with a new one (get the highest amps available, 800cca min) and you SHOULd be ok.
if not, just plug a durametric in there... i'de bet its your battery.

About to go down and check the connections. It started fine 3 times this morning
and no codes on my reader. That has been the norm, starts fine cold, drive for
a while and let it sit, at work or out at night, then come back and no start with
all the fail messages. New battery on Fri, Interstate 94R.

No issues the first 2 weeks I had it, drove it about 4 times during that time.

And just noticed the rear brake lights are not working, fuse is good. Rear lights were doing some other
weird things, not all coming on on both side, but now they are normal except for the brake lights.

Are you getting a warning light when the rear lights are acting up?

No. Everything looks normal today except the brake lights. I let it run for a
while but did not take it for a drive, which has me wondering about the
brake switch. Last night when it wouldn't start after messing with it for a long
time I stepped on the brake a few times and it let me start it, thought it was
just luck but not sure now. Anyway, it is a CPO car and I have an appointment
at the shop on Tue for the TPC sensors so I will just leave it and let them
figure it out. Hard not to try to trouble shoot it between now and then though.

If this car is a TIP, then you can only start the car with your foot on brake pedal (and the brake switch engaged or closed). I am guessing that this may be the problem and that your car is a TIP? You should be able to jumper (short) across the 2 wires on the harness side and start the car?

If it is a manual, then the same thing with the clutch pedal...

Also, just an FYI that a "new" battery is never a fully charged battery. All new batteries need to get fully charged on a charger (preferably) before installed in the car.

6 Speed, changed the clutch switch on Thur and thought I fixed it. Went out
that night and when it was time to leave it would not start. Showed up next
morning with new battery, bought it and took it home to top off for an hour or
so, started up no issues. Out Sat night and when it was time to leave same
thing, even tried starting it after shut down when we got there no issues, played
with it for 45 min and it finally started after bumping the brake pedal a few
times and disconnecting the batt, still showed psm fail but did not get the ABS
fail that time and it started, got home and it threw the same fail msgs again.
This morning it started fine, let it run for 20 min and checked the batt to see if
the alternator was woking, 12.7 volts car off, 14,7 running. And the brake
lights are inop, fuse is good, also had other rear light issues but they fixed
themselves. Queer trons.

Good thoughts on the tip but he does say clutch in his original post so the mystery will lie somewhere else.
