Default Daily Drivers (E63 vs IsF vs Pan Turbo vs 997 TT)

Hello Folks,

Bought my 997 TT to be driven daily but i find it too nice to drive it daily

I am now starting to look for another performance sedan and no I am not selling the TT, just adding the sedan.

E63: Had an E55 couple of years ago and though fast but it was just a sedan so sold it for TT. Anyway, drove a friends E63 the other day and found it very heavy and not fun to drive. I wasn't impressed at all.

Panamera: Though I haven't driven the Turbo version but the even the S version was too big/bulky/heavy. Would Turbo be any different?

IsF: Drove this car today at my local dealer with 65,000 miles. Let me tell you, this thing was loud, I mean it was really loud. I think I might have even felt the exhaust drone during normal driving too. However, car was much more nimble, easy and fun to drive than the Pan/E63.

After having driven those cars, I can confidently say this, there's no substitute to our 997 TT

Please comment on IsF.

Thanks

I think you answered your own question, get another TT that's not as nice as your current one :-)

I alternate the TT with an Audi RS4...V8, great exhaust note, AWD, and 6-speed...much nicer than ISF.

IMO: you sound to me like a Porsche and TT kind of guy...you will be very disappointed with a rice rocket...

Get a 996TT and it will be the same DNA as your 997TT. For less money get the awesome looking 996C4S with the IMS fix.

If you want a low key sedan go drive the VW Passat diesel -- I bought one for the mpg and I get 45-50mpg!!! And the fully loaded version is only $32K. I cancelled an E63 Wagon as I love my Passat!!!!!!!

Do you live in a cold place that you need AWD? Or. be low key? What is your budget?

PS: Is your TT the white one in your avator? Was that a Colorado car?

Budget is around 40 to 50,000 and I definitely would want something with 400+ horses

Since I also own a 964 Turbo, no point in buying another 2 door Porsche.

Yes the white TT is mine and no it was never advertised for sale.

I guess I would have to drive an RS4 even though I don't like the Audi dash lay out...

My all time favorite car was my 2003 E39/M5...I have never owned a car that balanced again. And I just saw one for sale with 22K miles...I missed it...if I get my hands on another I will buy it and then have Mr. Dinan rework it for me! Stage 1, 2, or 3!

Cayenne GTS?

Definitely drive the RS4...it is 420 HP stock, has exhaust flaps from the factory, and has wide hips like the turbo. You will not be disappointed.

Nearest I come to IsF seat time is 50K miles in our 2008 IS350. Glad I passed on the IsF. It's no TT and no family hauler either. Depends what you need. Wife has a CLK 550. Heavy and no fun to drive, like most MB. But solid, and the 7 speed auto is one of the best.

A friend of mine drives the Subaru Wrx/sti and swears by it as a great dd. Very well balanced car and a blast to drive with AWD.
I have never driven one but will try out someday when I retire my SRT8 Jeep.
I trust his opinion, he has a TT amongst other exotics, is a race car driver and owns a prominent Ferrari race team.

Try tuned Audi TT-RS. Exhaust+IC+soft = 420hp/600Nm. Faster than R8 V8, faster than RS4. Great noise inside and out! "Pocketable" size, very muscular looking, enough space in the boot, rear seat can be used in emergency.

I am adding BMW Z4 3.0si Coupe to my 997TT (TTRS is too expensive for a simple DD in my case). It has NA inline-6, RWD and manual, 1400kg, maintenance costs 1/2 of M. Simple, cheap, and honest DD car.

E63---I know you said you have experience with the E class AMG, but it has my vote for a DD with the desired complimentary capabilities to the Porsche. While my E’s 4.1 0 to 60 isn’t the 2.6 of my TTS, it’s still outstandingly fast, with great brakes and decent handling for its weight, but with seating for 4, a trunk for 4 tour golf bags, adjustable ride height for less friendly roads, and an all around user friendly, dependable, easy to maintain daily vehicle.

RS4, yes I need to drive it but like I said before, I am not a great fan of Audi interior lay out.

Subaru WRX STi: Love the car but besides being bit small, I don'tt think at my ripe ago of 40+, I would like to drive that with 2 kids in the back

Audi TT: Too small

M5: Wife has a 530i and I love driving it but two cars with the same body style not to mention not much torque, I guess it's not on top of the list though.

E9X M3 sedan: Not enough torque and I don't like high revving motors

E39 M5: Love it and might have to drive it again but last time when I drove it, I found it pretty heavy too especially for most of my in town driving?

E63: Had it for 3 hours the other day and did not like it at all. I remember when I was buying my E55, even then I didn't like the E63.

Thanks and please keep the suggestions coming even though there aren't many options left over.
