Default Q: Porsche World Roadshow

Hey folks,
I just got an invite to go to the Porsche World Roadshow...anyone has any experience with this event? To be brutally honest, is this some BS sales & marketing event or is it a "fun" high speed driving deal? (You know what I mean...)

http://www.porscheworldroadshowusa.com/

I wonder if they will bring the new TT and the new GT3 to the event?

Did this a couple of weeks back.
It was a blast.
991's only went up to 4S, there's a 997 TTS for launches and you get to track most of the new Porsches.
Really enjoyed the Panamera and Cayenne Turbo S's.
overall was a great day and lots of fun, you should do it given the opportunity, I'd love to do it again.

I have gone a couple. They are pretty decent. You won't get to drive fast as it's lead follow and you don't do a full lap, it's out the track and back in to the pits. There will be no TT or GT3, they will definitely have the 991 variations, Carrera, Carrera 4S. Panamera, Cayenne and potentially the Boxter/Cayman depending on the track.

Overall it's a fairly fun day, but it's all managed, that is you won't have free reign of the car.

done it twice, definitely should do it if you get invited.

not very fast driving, but able to try all current lineups on track, and cayenne off-roads.

a good free social event.

2 of my friends came back and ordered new 991, but no real pressure coming from staff.

Nobody called me to buy anything. I guess they know my garage is full.

You should definitely go. It's a fun "mid" speed event and a nice opp to drive and/or see the lineup - no sales pressure at all. Enjoy!

Did it last fall at Charlotte/Lowes Motor Speedway. Fun time.

Buddy and I went out early morning. Did short laps in Panamera GTS, 911, 911S, all PDK cars. 3 at a time rollout from pits, got up to about 140 on the back stretch, did not have full oval access, they brought us in just before turn 4, swap cars, go again.

Road course was fun too - not like a track day at Roebling, but fun.

Did short road course in 981S/Boxsters too, that was fun, but short.

Did quick start/stop runs in Panamera Hybrids.

Drive whatever you want to the event - they will not let you take it on the track.

Not so much hard selling at all. A few hotties displaying models, sunglasses, beer cooler wraps, etc, but a fun half-day. Don't expect hot laps (or lap dances ) but go enjoy it.

Yeah, they fill up in no time! I missed last year's (was in Montreal for the F1 race). My dealer is supposed to send me a code tomorrow. Let's see if Monticello is full...

I'm going to my first in September. I hope they have a turbo available by then. Dealer said something about Porsche factory drivers as "instructors". Is this the same event?

They are Porsche drivers but you wont get a chance to have them teach you anything. it all goes by too quick...It's still fun but leaves you wanting for a track day..It's very controlled..

I still think the Cayman S was far more fun than the 991 4S.

They run the events all around the world. The instructors are international. We got to do quite a bit of lap time, our instructor told us we had time to spare and we snuck in about 10 extra laps. At the end got to go out with instructors driving hot laps. That was a lot of fun also. They basically drifted the cars around the entire track. I was in a CayenneTTS, that truck really hauls ***. I noticed the build sheet had a retail of $214,350.
