Although all cups and GT cars including your turbo share the same basic design i:e Mezger,Cup motors are not same, they use diffent mapping and fuel, not sure why tracking means a pass on a car, they are maintained far better than street cars.
I own both and the frequency of the service for my GT3RS is far far more involved than the street use cars that I drive

As the local "car nut" let me share 2 recent deals where I "advised" my friends:
+'08TT convertible/6speed MT with optional hardtop, the MSRP was $130K'sh and he paid $83K no warranty. Purchased in St. Louis from an exotic car dealer
+'07TT Coupe/Tip fully loaded, the MSRP was $158k'sh with 13K miles and CPO bought from Ohio Porsche dealer in Feb for $82K or $83K?

I own the same car as you are buying. I am OK with Tip for my application. Sounds like you have done the TT manual thing already...

Hope this helps...

Just get your car properly inspected, and add up the $ if there are wear items. This friend of mine had the Porsche inspected at Parktown Imports in Kirkwood, MO by a Dale Robbins. I read the report and seemed thorough. (I am not buying/selling and don't know that part of the world or the dealers. If you need to know more, please PM me and I will help if I can.)

IMHO: As far as GT3 - my only advice would be that you need to spend some serious time test driving the car and get used to the clutch, stiff(er) suspension, noises, ... before you buy. I have never owned a GT3, but they are more tuned on the "enthusiastic" side than the commuter side...I have seen this movie before...

GOOD LUCK.
I know Dale and he's been service writer on all the water cooled Porsche's I've had. I like his style and I would run it through him just to be sure and have it really checked out. Its nice that the over rev's might not come into play with a Tip ?
I put a offer in to Exotic at $8000 back to me with a set of Turbo II wheels installed. Put me at owning for 76-77K.

I have to respecfully dissagree. A tracked car is not a reason to pass on it.. A look at the DME will give you a report on mis shifts etc...Too many of those (range fours) and then yes pass. But otherwise I would buy a GT3 that has been tracked without hesitation..

Last yr I almost bought a 2010 white gt3 w less than 20k miles, cpo etc.
Test drove it, rode likes bucket of bolts, I had driven 3s before but this seemed odd.
Did some checking, po was a major track rat, 18 de's in a yr!
Turns out he stripped the shark works pipes, roll bar, etc out of the car. The dme was clean, but that sob had one hard life.
Needless to say I passed, about 6 mos later I spied it at the dealer with the engine dropped, hopefully minor.
Getting back on topic, I think the op should drive both b4 deciding.
But I agree w Doug, two equal cars, one tracked, one babied, I'd pass on the track rat , I've been to the track too many times

We didn't get together on the deal. No hard feelings, the numbers have to make sense to me, we were close, within $2000, but I passed.
There will be plenty more opportunities, and I'm still pretty darn happy with my current rides.

picked up an 07 turbo last month from porsche dealer- tip, SC,, CF options, cobalt blue, 19k miles, one owner- new 2 yr CPO- new front tires, annual svc- $61.7 + tax-
i'm thrilled -love the color & car!! 6sp would be better but couldn't pass it up-
sold my low mile 02 996 C2 to neighbor - now i've just got to get the turbo to ride/handle & sound like my 996 which had X-74 suspension & tubi's.

That price is unheard of! ...amazing deal...I check Mannheim auction prices for things I don't need and they are never this low!
Can I take you shopping with me for my next car please?

i watched car for 6 weeks or so on CL- went from $79.9 to $62.7 at Honolulu FJ porsche dealer- they were ready to ship to their CA dealers as no offers here- I offered $1k less as that's price to ship from HI to CA- Got it for $61.7-
They wouldn't to anything else- they put new front tires, various dash ***** , window regulator & annual svc as part of CPO- said they had more in car than my purchase price- I doubted that but when i talked to orig owner found she got $60k trade in- I could have saved another $2k off price by declining CPO, but decided it was worth price.
Car needs new defroster trim as the CF is pulling up- was replaced twice under warranty by orig owenr, also the CF steering wheel has slight separation in back between 9-12 ocllock that you can feel if you rub your hand on it. Besides that it's perfect-nice stone grey interior- illuminated CF door trim, CF & leather dash/vents etc. No sport seats though- Car is beautiful- had full front wrap which they removed as said it was looking old- Plan to get full leather defroster trim $800 or so at sun coast or $500 used at LAdismantler-
have all orig service invoices from dealer since new -with PO ok- i'm so thrilled when i drive this (even with tip)- though it's maddening how tip upshifts even in sport & driving hard- oh well that's what manual is for-
