Got a little closer to a wall than I would have liked...

Edit: crappy application isn't letting me attach photos. Yay Rennlist.

NZ, I hope that you're OK and did not hit the wall!
Long skid mark...too much speed and spin out?

Be careful out here, I remember when I went off at njmsp a few yrs ago the first day they opened, no grass just a dust bowel like that, hope you and the car are ok. Looks like you just missed the wall.

Thanks guys. Yes, over corrected. Ended up rotating into the kitty litter, and coming way too close to the wall. You can see the footprints from me walking around the car when it was sitting there. Way too close!

Dayyumm, NZ. Close one.

Saw a similar at the Boise ID PCA hill climb, a friend in a 993. Lucky he spun toward the mountain; other side was a 1K foot drop off.

Glad you are ok.

To be honest, I'm not sure. I've gone around this corner 100's of times, and on a number of occasions I've had a little manageable oversteer. This time it behaved quite aggressively and my correction threw it out of the corner.

There's a strange vibration as the rear starts to come around, at which point I over correct. Unsure if it's related or just coincidental.

A bit of gravel rash on the outside wheels and a pinched pressure hose is all that came of it (so far...). I'm lucky it didn't result in much worse.

NZ: Glad you're ok. I'm driving at COTA in a month and this serves as a great reminder of how things can turn.

Glad you and the car are ok, maybe the tire started to dismount at the time of the vibration? Possibly a pressure loss from a bad valve stem preceding it?

Good time now to vacuum out the intercoolers on the intake duct side, there will be some kitty litter there.

Thanks for the tip. Definitely need to clean out the ICs, had assumed I'd need to remove the rear bumper to get in there, but I guess a vacuum cleaner would reach?
