The cars are both a ton of fun, in different ways. The 993 has a little more lag with the turbos kicking in abruptly. Very civil manners in traffic around town, but a beast on the open highway. All the other ancillary features with regard to the vintage of the car such as the sound of the engine, clunk of the doors, and the smell of admixed oil and leather are a given, but not taken for granted.
The 997 R Turbo is definitely an upgrade in terms of the entire package, from the suspension, to the short throw shifter, to the power delivery. A real handful both in 0-100 runs and beyond that on the highway. She's a great daily driver and despite the tight suspension is still very reasonable despite our lousy roads in Canada.

Geoff congrats on the RUF 550, I know the car well it's Bobby's old car. Our 997tts were converted at the same time back in Dallas, I have some pics somewhere I'll post them.
The RUF 550 is a very, very fast car. I have spanked many a 458 and 599 Ferarri in the most severe terms. It's truly a velvet hammer as RUFs were once described.
