I assume the tickets you get for these things are a lot different than in the Netherlands where they will also simply prevent you from continuing your journey without plates. Hit rate here probably also is 100%...

I have never used a front plate on my cars and trucks in Texas, and for 30 years never got a ticket...until about 5 years ago. Suddenly I started getting stopped in rural areas and ticketed for it, three times in fairly rapid succession. I asked the deputies if there had been a change in their directives to start enforcing this law, and the first two would only say that it was always against the law, etc. The third one, however, told me that, if there were other more serious infractions happening, they wouldn't bother with front plates, but if there was nothing else for them to do... I have never gotten stopped for it in Austin, and see a significant percentage of vehicles every day without a front plate. I definitely will NOT put one on my 997 ever.

Yes much different. We don’t have point system. It’s not a moving violation so doesn’t really effect your insurance or drivability in any way. It could be a hassle in certain states though

In the peoples republic of California you really need a front plate. Not only does it give an excuse to pull you over in many cities the meter maids will ticket you. My solution? A bracket that uses the tow hook whole, no damage to the bumper skin

Hello from Washington D.C. If you have ever seen the movie Exorcist, those infamous stairs are right behind the car in this photo.
